Ron 10 #27 November 25, 2009 QuoteGo start a new thread. I got it... You can't answer. But my question is valid since THIS thread is called "How will the HC bill same money." You did know that this thread was called that right? I have not heard one thing from any person (news, Obama, congress, or even the people on here) how this health care program will reduce health care costs. I have heard things that will cost money, tell me who will control health care, how an additional 30-40 million people will be getting health care and how the bill will control what is paid to doctors, but not one thing that will lower the cost of actually providing health care. nothing about tort reform, nothing about standard coding for billing, nothing about making illegals pay for health care( they send billions back to their country but cannot pay for an office visit?) so I assume that since the bill doesn't lower health care costs I will see a huge increase in what I pay for health care so those that should take care of themselves can get another free ride on the hard working, tax paying citizens of the US. Like doctors, who's on-going training is via TV commercials, politicians want to treat the symptoms & ignore the cause. No. Politicians want wield power through staying in office via re-election and trading favors. Keeping campaign donors happy helps. The appearance of doing things which can be described in sound bites helps, especially when those things are pain points getting media coverage. Actually fixing problems does not help unless it fits into one of the previous categories. Actually fixing problems would leave less to legislate over and make it harder to get re-elected. Drew, I think we agree, completely. Think about it: You can't treat the symptoms without side-effects. Basically it comes down to priorities & after a few decades of observation, I see MOST politicians' priorities as such: First & foremost: Get reelected. 2- Don't get caught. 3- Reward family, friends, & supporters, but... 4- DON'T GET CAUGHT! 5- Listen to your loudest constituents. 6- DON'T GET CAUGHT! etc., etc. SIG's (special INFLUENCE groups) & lobbyists exert way too much influence on legislation. It SHOULD be criminal, but that's asking the fox to guard the hen-house (oh wait, did I just describe this entire legislation...?). You can imagine when THAT will happen. When the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
SkyChimp 0 #32 November 26, 2009 QuoteHowever, overall it will cost more than our current system. That should be the final nail in the coffin for this HC debate. I have never agreed with you more. Does anyone else find it funny that we made a SPORT out of an EMERGENCY PROCEDURE?!?!
