4 cops shot dead at a coffeee house in Washington State

Or uniforms, or clerical robes. And it would be very different if the killer had been vociferously opposed to Obama taking his guns away, or had been named Mohammed, or was a veteran with PTSD. In all cases, though, the results are the same - which is something many people here overlook with great regularity.

It would be an even worse outcry if the killer wore his own uniform, suffered from paranoid delusions and shouted "allahu akhbar" when he acted out his illness.

I guess working on the south side of Chicago just leads to complacency.

It shouldn't:
9 slain during Thanksgiving weekend in Cook Co.

"The holiday weekend in Cook County proved deadly this year, with nine homicides reported as of Sunday night..."

More than twice as many people were murdered over the weekend where you work, compared to the four cops in Tacoma.

Wrong: Cook County != south side of Chicago. It includes the north side, the northwest side, the west side, the southwest side, downtown, and a whole bunch of suburbs.

I was a process server for 9 years, BS Jus, taking some paralegal classes now, watched trials since 96-97 until today, watched a diff one last week, pro per'd a case against 3 lawyers, a realtor, a broker and 2 LLC's. I won that one in arbtration and collected too.

Well, there goes those claims about "I can't afford HC"...

Oh kallend, you're playing your games again.

Readers: see the attached map, showing Cook County, Illinois, and its geographic relationship to Chicago.

Doesn't that look like Cook County covers south Chicago to you? The only part of Chicago that it does not surround is the southeast. And that's probably because that's no longer Illinois, but Indiana, and Counties don't cross state lines. But you didn't say you worked in southeast Chicago - you said south Chicago. So, you've attempted to fool everyone, and you should have known that commonly available maps would prove you wrong.

And the instant news article, as well as many others, certainly show that the crime of murder is a serious problem in Cook County. Hence, your original assertion that you really didn't have anything to worry about, is also false.

Tsk tsk. Just more of the same from the professor, who specializes in obfuscation.

if none of the murders took place in South Cook, his statement stands...

So if there were murders happening all around you, or you lived right on the edge of an area with a high murder rate, but you seemed to be in a crime-free pocket, you wouldn't find anything to be concerned about?

Besides, there was one in Sauk Village, and one in Auburn Gresham, both of which are decidedly south of Chicago, to everyone except probably kallend. So even by your own standard here, kallend fails.

Kallend has a long history here of trying to promote Chicago as a low-crime city, usually in relation to the city's handgun ban, in an attempt to fool people into believing that gun bans are actually effective. Such assertions are false.

There are no stats available to support the theory that cops are coddled. Of course I can provide arrest and bond details on many cases that are so weak any reasonable person could see the difference between that and the way regular people are dealt with.

As for knowing what I'm talkign abiut[SIC]

You ALWAYS jump people for not providing FACTS... Now everyone should just listen to you when you can't provide them?

It's an area that there isn't data. I can proved cases where cops are coddled in criminal cases, but as far as data, there is no agency that collects that data, so I GUESS COPS DON'T RECIEVE PREFFERENTIAL TREATMENT IN COURT WHEN THEY COMMIT CRIMES :S.

Hell, a case in my town 8 years ago, this cop went to Toys-for-tots locations and stole about 5k in toys, they were found in his garage, he wasn't:

- fired
- prosecuted

He lost his state certificate to be a cop and went elsewhere and became a cop.

That was off the top of my head, I could list story after another, but it isn't scientific, so it's not data. I don't know of an agency that collects dirty cop data and I don't think there is. Maybe stories, but coddling is subjective and when cops are caught red-handed and are then put on PAID admis leave and eventually the crime is swept under, well, you can continue to deny and ignore, btu I don't.

It's sad that four people were murdered, all the more so because the only reason seems to have been what they were wearing. Can you imagine how different the outcry and this thread would be if the offending accessories had been turbans instead of badges? That's pretty sad too.

Blues,
Dave

No doubt, sad all the way around - need to get that MF and be done with him. Still won't bring back the victims; what a sad time for the families.

Show me out of all that where I can afford HC, co-pays, deductables, etc. A BS in Jus gets you a job as a P.O. Process servers make shit. Act mech'ing is my best occupation and that is sporadic.

Yes, but in this case, he was only extolling the benefits of some vaguely defined region of Chicago, not the city as a whole.

When training new recruits, the first thing I would tell them is that they can do everything right and still end up dead. Proper tactics, mindset, and training go a long way in preventing things but they too have limitations. A bad guy with a weapon, makes a 911 call and hides in the bushes to ambush is an example. Good habits and situational awareness can't prevent something you can't see.
These officers were caught unaware and that's a shame, you can't be everything all the time. I just taught good habits and situational awareness.

One time while traveling I walked into a roadside greasy spoon to get something to eat. I was in civilian clothes by myself, this older waitress led me to my seat. She put the placemat and silverware down at my table and asked if I wanted something to drink.

She came back to the table and said "can I ask you a question?" I said sure.

"Are you a cop?" I asked her how she knew and she said "when you sat down you turned the placemat around and sat with your back against the wall and looked around kinda funny. Then I noticed everytime someone comes in you look them up and down. I've been doing this a long time and all you cops are the same". She said that with a smile.
I didn't even realize I was doing it.

That's what I mean by good habits, practicing small survival skills unconsciously. I've been in this game well over 20yrs, the bad thing that happened to those officers could have happened to me untold numbers of times over the years. The LEO community will learn from this, but unfortunately something similiar will happen (ambush) again. Let's just hope it's not of this scope.

Apparently the suspect was found and has been fatally wounded after he tried to resist arrest with lethal force. I don't have a link yet, it was just mentioned on HLN this morning.

I'm sure that our own DZ.com anti-cop legal "expert" will say that it was a conspiracy to simply kill him instead of arrest him.[:/]

Gosh, golly you are so brilliant and funny [:/]

Just like most conservatves, they distort the truth to create some credibility. I said I could be considered an acft structure expert.

Funny thing is, you don't post anything to the contrary. Just keep the sheep following; too bad America isn;t buying it, but as long as it works in internet clubs, that's all that matters.;)

The thing I enjoy most is that I'm in your head. :D The guy you're responding to makes a rational post on-topic and you can't help but to drift off again.
