Republicans as individuals = voters with varying degrees of beliefs

Republican Party = GOP / RNC

Republican ideology = Doctrine that rigidly states how Republicans within the ranks will behave / what they will believe.

So I was refering to the party structure and the ideology system, not anyone in particular.

Should parties not care what their member's views are, and just run anyone who they can think can get their party in control? (Yes, I'm aware that's pretty much what we have now).
