Amazon 7 #1 December 7, 2009 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_exodus_from_Arab_lands QuoteThe Jewish exodus from Arab lands refers to the 20th century expulsion and mass departure of Jews, primarily of Sephardi and Mizrahi background, from Arab and Islamic countries. The migration started in the late 19th century, but accelerated after the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. It is estimated that 800,000 to 1,000,000 Jews were either forced from their homes or left the Arab countries from 1948 until the early 1970s; 260,000 reached Israel between 1948-1951, and 600,000 by 1972.[1][2][3] The Jews of Egypt and Libya were expelled while those of Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon and North Africa left as a result of physical and political insecurity. Most were forced to abandon their property.[2] By 2002, these Jews and their descendants constituted about 40% of Israel's population.[3] One of the main representative bodies of this group, the World Organization of Jews from Arab Countries, (WOJAC) estimates that Jewish property abandoned in Arab countries would be valued today at more than $300 billion[4][5] and Jewish-owned real-estate left behind in Arab lands at 100,000 square kilometers (four times the size of the state of Israel).[1][5] The organization asserts that the Jewish exodus was the result of a deliberate policy decision taken by the Arab League.[6] PSSST do you think most of these 40% of Israels people have TANS???? Yea no injustice at all there. Injustice only counts in your mind if its against Jews, or Christians. You seem to support taking rights from Muslims the very rights you wish you and the people you like should have. Also if you think losing your home, land, hope, and any future for the next generation is not enough motivation for violence again i ask you the same thing i asked which you avoided as always. What would you do????????????? You talk tough, you talk about not allowing any one make you a victim. yet you seem to want others to accept being victimized. CanuckInUSA 0 #15 December 7, 2009 Of course this is common knowledge, but ... The world would be a whole lot safer if people kept religion to themselves. Then there would not be issues when someone was a Christian, a Muslim, Jewish or even if they worshiped some mythical Flying Spaghetti monster. But since people like to judge others who are different from themselves, since every religion thinks they are right and everyone else is wrong. The world is a dog eat dog world and I am wearing puppy chow. Now if you will excuse me, I need to crawl back under the frozen snowy rock from where I came from. While some people are claiming the world has warmed, I live in the part of the world where it is not uncommon for the temperatures to be -25C (-13F) with wind chills of -33C (-27F). kelpdiver 2 #21 December 8, 2009 First hit I saw: The naming conventions for Persia (aka Iran) changed in 1935. The suggestion for the name change from Persia to Iran is said to have come from the Persian ambassador to Germany, who was a Nazi sympathizer. In 1935 Germany was ruled by Hitler. Aryanism was equated by the Nazis as the highest level of human civilization, in an article of faith based on a vulgar Hegelian hyperbola. Apparently the Persian ambassador was persuaded by his Nazi friends that Persia would be better off as an ally of Nazi Germany. Moreover, he became convinced that the country should be called by its Persian name, Iran, in Western languages. This was to signal a new beginning and bring home to the world the new era in Iranian history, one that would emphasize the Aryan aspect of its people. The name Iran is a cognate of the old word Aryan. The Persian Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent out a memo to all foreign embassies in Tehran, requesting that the country be called "Iran."
