billvon 2,989 #28 January 8, 2010 From a recent interview: ====== Q: Do you believe that you are smart enough, incisive enough, intellectual enough to handle the most powerful job in the world? A: I believe that I am because I have common sense. And I have, I believe, the values that are reflective of so many other American values. And I believe that what Americans are seeking is not the elitism, the kind of a spinelessness that perhaps is made up for that with some kind of elite Ivy League education and a fact resume that’s based on anything but hard work and private sector, free enterprise principles. Americans could be seeking something like that in positive change in their leadership. I’m not saying that has to be me. ======= You know she's got the vote of every comedian and pundit out there. That's because there are no knee-jerk reactions to people who find them funny. "How DARE you criticize Dave Chappelle! He has FAR more executive experience than your so-called commander-in-comedy Jay Leno!" (Oh, and BTW, this is the politics forum. You might want to look in Bonfire, where there are a few hundred posts about Dave Chappelle alone.)

wmw999 2,439 #34 January 8, 2010 Jon Stewart, Dave Chapelle and Ron White are deliberately trying to be funny. They make fun of themselves as as well as of others. That people laugh at them is a sign of their success. Sarah Palin is a celebrity commentator (after leaving the governor's office without completing her term, I think she passed from politician to celebrity). She's not trying to make fun of herself, she's trying to get people to believe what she says. Wendy P.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. Quite simply - and I say this without either criticism or endorsement - people talk about Palin because she wants them to talk about her, and they oblige. http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics/2010/0106/Sarah-Palin-will-headline-first-ever-Tea-Party-Convention

The company, based in Anchorage, will be known as BSMP LLC, according to Bloomberg. Bristol Palin signed the documents as the organizer. Her full name is Bristol Sharon Marie Palin. Bristol Palin, 19, made headlines when it was learned she was pregnant while her mother was running for vice president. She gave birth to a son, Tripp, in December 2008, and has since broken up with the boy's father, Levi Johnston. She has since promoted abstinence as a way to avoid teen pregnancies. Why do we waste federal dollars building stick built house for people who choose to live so far in the boonies that they would DIE without federal assistance? Why do we waste federal dollars building and maintaining remote runways to service communities of stick built homes for people who choose to live in the boonies? Why don't we allow those people to fend for themselves and live or die on the basis of their skills (or lack thereof) and quit wasting money on them? As far as I am concerned, they can live ANY lifestyle they want to, that they can afford to pay for themselves. FEDERAL TAX DOLLARS are spent to support them. That is 100% wrong. Those Alaskans are every bit as evil as the welfare queens in the projects that the righties rail about. Why does Alaska hand out thousands of Oil Tax dollars to it's citizens each year, while taking massive amounts of Federal dollars to make up for the lack of money caused by this policy? Alaska is a Socialist state. EXTREMELY socialist. There is no other possible conclusion, if you have any knowledge of of the FACTS of how the money flows. That state is so far upside down fiscally that it is amazing. Check it out.
