Pat Robertson acting like, well, himself, again.

OK, maybe some people do indeed think 9/11 was punishment for our sins.

Of course, by that measure, it may have also been punishment for our denial of rights to gays.

Nope, that one is covered in the Book of Romans, Chapter 1. But, you knew that. Are you baiting me?

Because they were 150 miles further away from the epicenter, and their greater wealth in general meant better-constructed buildings and more rugged infrastructure.

Plus, the parts of the Dominican that are nearest to the border are mountainous villages, not major population centers.

Apparently the earthquake in Haiti is punishment for a pact with the Devil.

Someone please explain, why absolutely no bad news is coming out of the Dominican Republic.

Sorry, but a 7.0 earthquake, isn't just going to stop, at the border.

OK, we've seen other people's answers... now give us yours. No BS, just give it to us straight.

Hmm. Well, Exodus 34 makes it pretty clear we shouldn't be marrying outside our race. So maybe it's all that interracial marriage is what caused 9/11. Or perhaps eating clams (Leviticus 11.) Or even people who so disrespect God that they dare receive communion while wearing glasses (Leviticus 21.) Or that we freed all those slaves (Leviticus 25.)

Come to think of it, there's an awful lot to offend God going on here if you go straight by the Bible. Heck, I bet there's a chance that even Pat Robertson might have some cotton/polyester blends that might result in some terrible fate for him.

OT Law was satisfied in the death of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. That is why it is called the "atonement." We are in the Dispensation of Grace according to some Bible scholars.

Andy9o8 nailed it. Pat Robertson is an entertainer of extremely good fortune from a specific market niche.

During the 1980's a phenomena known as the Charismatic Movement moved through the nation. Robertson was one of the principal founders.

He has always been a proponent of the concept of noblesse oblige. Over the years, his ministry has provided money for many needed services here and abroad. I suspect he will be sending aide to Haiti.

The way it works is that he will say something outrageous and work up the emotions of the audience. Then he will proclaim the love of Christ is needed to provide a balm to the injury of the masses. Money will pour in and he will dole it out to selected ministries as food, water, medical supplies and clothing. Of course he will retain at least ten percent for administrative costs. That program used to be called Operation Blessing.

The guy even claimed to be able to leg press 2000lbs!

As i mentioned in the other post, how can anyone support a guy that once said that hurricane katrina was Gods way of punishing homosexuals and pro-choice people!

FUCK Pat Robertson! Hope the old bastard dies in a car fire! The fact that the 700 Club has more than 1 million daily viewers is hairraising! Is this the kinda man you want to represent christianity in the US?

I don't have anything to do with that selection. I do not watch his program. I couldn't care less.

And the fact that it flourished so succesfully is a source of national shame, I would imagine.

On the contrary, many people were blessed by the movement, me included. It helped me overcome my alcohol and drug problems and guided me in my professional career.

There it is again, an obviously false statement made as if it were fact.
God -is- mocked. All of them from Allah to Zoroaster.
A great deal of laughter is had by all kinds of people on the topic, which I see as a good thing. And much of the time, nothing bad happens to people who do the mocking either. You sow laughter, you reap... well, more laughter. Wheres the problem?

Well, you could just as well apply that to 9/11 - but I don't think that's all that valid either.

Well, there is that thing about our desire to perpetuate infanticide through abortion. But, hey that karma is just on the females.

All I'm saying is this: Abortion/homosexuality/pacts with Satan have no effect on earthquakes or hurricanes.

At least not in Reality Land.

So how much financial support can you garner with that stance?

If you're saying that it's Pat Robertson who has the deal with the devil - and I think you are - then I'd agree.

Or to put it another way, although you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, you can catch more cash with vinegar than with honey.

Almost any movement, no matter how vile, will have a positve effect on the lives of a few of it's adherents simply by being something to get involved with. But predominantly, rather than a lot of people getting blessed, it was more abvout a lot of cunts getting obscenely rich off the gullibility of rednecks, Pat Robertson included.

Your post indicates a great ignorance concerning the American people.

First of all, the Charismatic Movement was not vile. Do you even know what that word means? It was positively oriented for the betterment of those listening to the message. It had some twists and spin-offs but it was not vile. Obviously, you have no clue what it was about.

Second, there were many people blessed over a period of years. To say that only a few were blessed again shows a void of factual knowledge.

Third, the movement had reasonably equal proponents of both male and female. To say that the movement was for the financial benefit of a certain kind of woman is both sexist and foolish.

Fourth, the expression "obscenely rich" only has meaning to the gross underachiever. Examine your life.

And lastly, you have absolutely no understanding of the meaning of the term redneck. Its use in the context of your statement indicates only a TV education.
