I can't be the only one that sees this comparison?

NickD :)

Wow! I haven't seen anything of Gene Scott in over 20 years. I thought he was dead. He is the only for profit evangelist I ever saw. He made no bones about it. If you want the learn something from him, you would have to pay for it.

I thought he was hilariously funny. He wore a variety of hats and smoked cigars while teaching or preaching, whatever.

The sad truth is you are correct, referring to the ones on TV. The ones you never heard of or will hear of are doing the real evangelism. Gene Scott was just straight up, out front honest about it.

The Lord made it clear to me in the beginning that I could never seek to make money from my testimony or my ministry.

I was very involved with our church as a child. My mother was a sunday school teacher and we were both in the choir for many years and I also was going to our chuch school. My mother was a single parent at the time and raising me on her own. When my mother left her old company and went to work for her old boss at the new company he starrted she took a significant cut in pay as they were getting the company going. There were a couple years where Now as involved in the church as we were you would NEVER have thought the low life scum of a pastor would send her a letter noticing that her "contributions" had fallen recently. At the time we had a 10 year old car... he was driving a new Cadillac every other year.. lived in a really big house... and belonged to a very good country club. To say that the whole episode "soured" us on our church would be to put it lightly. We quit the church..... we moved from the area... and I was put into a new school. To this day I think most of the men who enter the clergy are there for the money.

I have nothing to do with organized religion. For me the emphasis of importance is on the song, not the singer.

The late Pastor Scott's very much younger foxee wife Melissa Scott has taken over the message. If your up past 1: AM it's entertaining.

I watch her when Family Guy, American Dad or South Park isn't on.

Thanks, I'll check the schedule for my area.

I checked her out and I think she is presents as an erudite theologian. She does an excellent job but, she is definitely college level.

I did not see a ring on her left hand. Could she be Gene's daughter?

That's his widow. After he died she still wore the ring for a while.

I enjoy it when she debunks portions of the Bible and tells the Congregation to strike out parts of a chapter or verse. She explains why there is no relation to the ancient Aramaic, Hebrew or Greek and what was added hundreds of years later or absolutely misinterpreted. She also talks about what has been left out for political or sexiest reasons. Like the Gospel of Mary Magdalen.

Did you notice she's Hot and can't hide it under that frumpy coat ? ;)
I Jumped with the guys who invented Skydiving.
