The rescums are spreading a pack of lies recently. Facts are not malleable. Facts are facts.

Lie number one - According to the liars, reconciliation is very unusual and almost never happens. Since 1980, there have been 22 bills passed through reconciliation. 22 bills. The liars don't tell you that 16 were pushed through by the rescums. A perfect example of their reconciliation bills is the "temporary" massive tax cuts for the extremely wealthy that are due to expire soon. The tax cuts that have helped cause the record red ink that the teabaggers are so upset about. Passed in 2001.

Lie number two - The rescums are saying that passing a bill through the senate via a simple majority, IE, 51 votes, is the "nuclear option". The "nuclear option" has nothing to do with passing a bill by majority vote, using the reconciliation process. The "nuclear option" is changing the senate rules to eliminate the filibuster. The rescums threatened to do it in 2005 when the Dems were using the filibuster (correctly) to block judicial nominations. Why are the rescums so afraid of majority rules? They have no issue with it at all, when they are the ones with the 51 votes.

Lie number three - The rescums were frozen out of the process of putting together the health care bill. Rescums and their followers have a bad case of willful ignorance. The health care bill stalled for months over the summer when the "gang of six" senators supposedly worked to come up with a compromise. Three dem, three rescum. The rescums got a good portion of what they asked for, and still they did't move the bill forward. The concept of bipartisanship was killed by the rescums many years ago. The Dems have yet to learn this lesson. The rescums trample over any and all ideas from the Dems, when the rescums hold power. They don't even give lip service to the concept of bipartisanship..

Lie number four - The rescums say that "no major health care legislation has ever passed by reconciliation". They are liars. COBRA was a major overhaul of the health care system. Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) Note that the fourth word is "reconciliation", as in, how the bill passed the Senate over the vigorous objections of the Rescums. Signed by into law by Reagan in 1985.

The rightys need to learn a bit about truth and fact checking. It is one thing to stretch the truth. It is quite another to LIE about matters of great importance to the country. It is pathetic that the righties are so gullible they fall for the lies.

No, no, it's a HEALTHCARE bill!! Didn't you notice the purpose?

If it had been a BUDGET bill, the purpose would have been something similar to HR1086, submitted by Representative Gingrey (GA-11)(Republican):

"To improve patient access to health care services and provide improved medical care by reducing the excessive burden the liability system places on the health care delivery system."

22 since 1980. In contrast, the president has issued 40+ "Executive Orders" in the last year. Bush had 290, Clinton 363, each over 8 years. Congress passes several thousand bills every year.

You probably need to rethink your argument that reconciliation is a common occurrence.
