100% correct. No positive social or ethical change has ever come about from conservative values.

Remind me again - WHICH party was it that filibustered the Civil Rights Acts of 1957 and 1964?

Oh, that's right - it was the DEMOCRATS.

Remind me again why right wing followers simply can't read and comprehend simple written words?.

Blatant, isn't it? And so predictable.

Every positive social change has been adamantly opposed the conservatives.

Which, of course, is why the DEMOCRATS were the ones filibustering the Equal Rights Act.

MMMMMMMMmmmmmm, koolaid.

The word was "conservatives", not "Democrats". Misrepresenting another's words yet again!

Rebutting, not misrepresenting. Maybe you should take some time from lying about gun laws to re-read that dictionary you keep talking about, since you can't seem to tell the difference.

You "rebutted" something he didn't write, which isn't a rebuttal at all, it's just lame.

So's your understanding of debate. I'll type really slow, so you can keep up.

He said that conservatives have opposed all social change. I rebutted by showing that the conservatives passed the Equal Rights Act, while liberals filibustered it.

You're not still referring to the bloc of racist, segregationist Southern "Dixiecrats" like Strom Thurmond (just before he switched to the Republican party) and his ilk who tried to filibuster the Equal Rights Act of 1964, and were reviled by the rest of the party outside the Segregationist South, are you? That's already been dealt with in Post #21.

A filibuster by these racist, reactionary soon-to-be Republican holdovers who happened to be part of the last vestiges of the pre-WWII Democratic wing in the Deep South is a far cry form that being done by "the Democrats" (your phrase). Is that what you're hanging your rhetorical hat on?

When did Byrd cross over to the Repubs - gimme the date, will you?

Point is, his argument is full of shit. There's been people for/against social change on both sides of the aisle.

Byrd of West Virginia, the Klan segregationist, who was part of the 1964 Southern bloc filibuster?

Your words:

"A filibuster by these racist, reactionary soon-to-be Republican holdovers "

Wiki:
"Robert Carlyle Byrd (born November 20, 1917) is the senior United States Senator from West Virginia, and a member and former Senate Leader of the Democratic Party."

Comprehension, Mike. Look up the word "progressive" in the dictionary. Look up the work "Democrat" in the dictionary.

Note that the definitions are quite different.

The right wing bully tactic of repeating unrelated facts as though they had a bearing on the issue at hand only works on those people who aren't real smart. That crap does not impress anyone with any intelligence.

The fact that Dixiecrats filibustered civil rights legislation is actually PROVES my point, Mike. There is NO WAY anyone with a modicum of intelligence and knowlege of history could mistake a Dixiecrat for a Progressive.

That shit may fly in right wingnut world. It doesn't in the real world. In right wingnut world, it must count as a BRILLIANT argument. Sounds good, but has no basis in reality at all, unless one is totally and completely ignorant of the facts and the context of historical event under discussion..

And no way that anyone with a modicum of intelligence could mistake your posts for anything but a spittle-laced ideological rant.

Since you're so damn sure of the conservatives' blocking of progressive works, I'm sure you can show MANY examples where that's happened, with vote counts, of course, to prove that none of those EEEBIL Republicans voted for it.

I'm just curious. Where do you think the real world exists?

Somewhere between the right wingnut world (where Obama is a muslim born in Kenya among other things) and the left wingnut world (where the Rebublicans want gays put to death, among other thngs).:P

Unfortunately, both the left and right wingnuts believe that their world is the real one:S

Somewhere waaaaaay away from SC:D:D:D

No, that isn't what you did at all.

Your modus operandi here is the same as always - misrepresent someone else's words and then attack your strawman. You do it over and over.

You are confused or, more likely, deliberately obtuse.

Republican/Democrat even now is not the same as conservative/liberal, and was even less so in the 1950s and 1960s.

The Governor overruled his attorney general today and issued a directive to state agencies not to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation. Here is the first news story I found when I searched, I'm sure there are better, more comprehensive stories out there:
