Refer to the first post of this thread, in which the author describes a desire to be free of the evil "leftist progressives", the "secular tidal wave" that has caused "pornography, abortion, homosexuality, promiscuity, the AIDS epidemic, soaring out-of-wedlock births, sky-rocketing divorce rates and the breakdown of the family." That's an awful lot of boogiemen! Look how scary they are. AIDS! Caused by secular progressives! They will destroy the world!

Why, it's nothing less than a "war waged by liberals on Christianity." Christians must "rise from their apathy or they will be driven into the catacombs once again" - and America will be destroyed! Christians "must boldly stand against any who attempt to degrade our Christian heritage." Very scary!

The odd thing is, I bet you actually believe that crap while simultaneously mocking other people who feel exactly the same way. That takes some serious mental gymnastics.

I want to say no, however, my voting record indicates otherwise.

I voted for George W. because he and his brother, Jeb, visited the homeless ministry where I was employed. I had the opportunity to meet them both and was impressed. He supported the faith based initiative and that was a big plus for my field at the time.

The second time around I voted for him because we were at war.

I voted for McClain because he was all we had that stood the slightest chance of defeating the unabashed socialism coming at us. He is a RINO so I am not certain how much better we would have faired had he won.

I was taughht in economics that socialism is the idea that the workers should own industries either directly or indirectly via the state. Since I see no plans in Obama's legislative programme to nationalise the majority of Us busineses's, I would conclude he is not a socialist. In fact isnt he priavtising NASA launch business? Hows that socialist?

Furthermore capitlaism is the idea that one doesnt need a top down planner to create effiecency in a complex system like an economy. This is exactly the same idea as in evolution. Im always perplexed at why Conservatives seem to supprot capitlaism and oppose evolution. Both are the same idea that effeciency results not from top down design but from competition.

If things have got so much worse, where is you data to support this notion?

In response to philh, I don't know Socialism to the degree that he does. As you correctly stated, I use the term because that is what I have been taught throughout my life.

Glenn Beck suggests we use the term "Progressive" instead of Socialism. I don't care for that term because it is unfamiliar to me and it sounds benign.

I do not support the Liberal ideology because it promotes secular humanism and increasing governmental control. What is the correct term for this movement in America?

I do think that there is a valid point t be made out of the rather OTT original post. Christmas greetings being thrown out of the window in favour of Happy Hollidays, I find that annoying. Who are these idiots (not just in the USA) who claim that its offensive to other religions and cultures? I've never heard a Muslim or a Jew complain about Chistmas or Easter being celibrated, in fact quite the opposite.
There is a rabid hatred of people worshiping God no matter what their religion, by many atheists who are often fanatical about their non-religion.

As for the Judeo Christianity reference in the OP that always makes me smile, Jews don't believe in Jesus as anything other than a carpenter, the only other world religion that believes he was sent by God is Islam.

Actually if you actually knew me I think you would think differently..

I would support a world where ALL religions or lack thereof were respected equally. I support the right of any person to believe as they see fit.

But reality does tend to get in the way of that now doesn't it. How many muslim countries allow for someone to convert to any other religion?

Personally I am not willing to live in any country where I as a woman am expected to live in what is esentially slavery and not as even a third class citizen.
