Belgian_Draft 0 #63 April 29, 2010 Quote Two weeks later...me hauling ass again (like always) and a female cop pulls me over...completely rude, could care less about anything but her quota, and gave me the ticket and I had to do defensive driving. Soooo....your doing 85-90 mph, being a selfish ass by putting other peoples lives at risk, and you expect her to treat you with more than minimal respect? Fuck that! I wouldn't blame her at all if she sat in a different spot every day just waiting on you to come sailing by again.HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit. regulator 0 #64 April 29, 2010 It was on two different roads. Its so awesome how I completely took away from the OP looking like a jackass by calling all cops FUCKING PIGS...all I had to do was say that I speed on a regular basis and WHAM suddently everyone is calling me a criminal and a felon. Belgian_Draft 0 #65 April 29, 2010 QuoteYou seem to be misunderstanding me about one thing...I've been driving fast since I had a license. I log over 500 miles each week driving back and forth to work. Will I stop speeding anytime soon? probably not. The purpose of my initial post was to detail how some cops can be nice and some can be douchbags...that's it. I did not elaborate on my constant speeding as a means to detour this discussion to a debate on speeding, rather than pointing out (in my own way) how some cops can be nice and some are total douchebags. That is all Fokker Out Pot, meet kettle. The only thing I was pointing was how hypocritical it is of you to call some cops D-Bags when you admit you drive like a D-Bag. I happen to agree with you that there are some good, some bad.HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit. regulator 0 #66 April 29, 2010 How do know I drive like a douchebag? Do you know what my car looks like? Because I admitted to speeding on a regular basis does that equate to me driving fast AND riding someone's ass AND being reckless? I think not. Perhaps you could take a ride with me sometime and guage it for yourself. Until that time leave the speculations for whuffos. We have both established that we both have valid points and large penises for that matter, but until you ride with me AND I drive like I do when I'm by myself. When I have company I most always just go around 5 over the speed limit. I'm quite sure there are many reasons WHY I speed, but that shouldn't take away the focus of why you are able to come to such quick conclusions about me without any detailed knowledge of how I drive other than my admission that I speed when I'm alone and driving to work. Airman1270 0 #67 April 29, 2010 ...I get it. Nobody likes cops until you need one... _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Count me among those who have a bad attitude. It didn't always be this way and my attitude is not the result of personal experience. I have a clean record and have never been in trouble. (I have been mistreated by cops on several occasions; these were minor incidents that did not result in my arrest but they were completely unjustified.) Yes, police work has always involved helping people and chasing bad guys. However, in the last few decades the job has expanded to include heavy-handed response to minor violations and harassment of people for doing things that used to be okay. The tipping point for me was an incident in June '94 at a supermarket in Woodstock, GA several miles from my home. A woman spanked her kid, some snarky employee called 911, and the cop arrested the mother when he should have instead apologized to her for the intrusion and cited the employee for filing a false report of a crime. This bastard deserved to be shot dead in the street. How the hell did he manage to graduate from cop school with the idea that it was any of his damn business to interfere like this? My radio career involved regularly reading police reports. It is perfectly routine for these guys to arrest people for sleeping in their cars or demand to see ID if they find you walking along the roadside late at night. What the goddamn hell is going on in this country? Why are these guys willing to work a job that requires them to treat their fellow citizens this way? And why are they so eager to make an arrest, especially regarding minor non-violent violations, when they could settle a situation in a less intrusive manner, such as writing a ticket? Yes they perform a necessary service, but if they're willing to arrest a guy for defending himself against an assault or throwing a coffee cup across the room after his wife has been treating him like shit they have forfeited any claim to our respect. Cheers, Jon S.

What the goddamn hell is going on in this country? Why are these guys willing to work a job that requires them to treat their fellow citizens this way? As an ole country boy, I kinda LIKE the idea of the police stopping someone walking country roads late at night...it's not normal and asking someone to identify themselves and explain what they are doing there HAS prevented break in's and theft of property. I've never been arrested for sleeping in my car but I have been woken up and asked to identify myself, no doubt they were just trying to ascertain if I was impaired and sleeping it off...that's a GOOD thing! Certain behaviours call attention to yourself, they play the odds in the interest of protecting property and persons... For example ~ A good percentage of the people on the highway at 2:10am are under the influence so getting a quick stop at that time doesn't bother me if I'm sober, I look at it as someone looking out for MY safety...you seem to be seeing proactive enforcement as an infringement of your rights? And sorry to tell ya this but, throwing a cup of coffee across the room is an indicator of being out of control and possibly displaying a violent tendency...it's not a 'normal' reaction to a bitchy wife in the 'civilized' part of society. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
Belgian_Draft 0 #71 April 29, 2010 Quote...AND being reckless By your own admission you regularly drive 85-90 mph. I drive all over the USA and know of no section of highway that those speeds aren't 10-15 mph faster than the vast majority of traffic. The fact that your speeds are out of the ordinary for whatever roads you travel is backed up by your getting stopped by cops. THAT, my dear fellow, is reckless driving any way you care to look at it, otherwise know as "driving like a D-Bag". Do everyone a favor and save it for a racetrack or other closed course. BTW, if your drive is 50 miles, you save a WHOPPING 4.7 minutes by driving 85 instead of 75!HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit. If the majority of traffic is travelling faster than the speed limit it is safer both for you and those around you if you go with the flow of traffic. Excessively slow drivers can be just as dangerous as excessively fast ones. Also dude said the limit was 50mph where he was so you may want to recalculate. On topic, I've never had any major problems with cops in London, at least not while I was being a law abiding citizen . The last time i was in the states though I got stopped more times than I have ever been in all my life here. Conclude what you will
skycop 0 #73 April 30, 2010 The other thing in my career I am most proud of, I NEVER wrote a speeding ticket. I never ran one beam of radar (officially) either, except when it was slow on nights (which it hardly ever was). I used to take the radar gun out on the highway and point it at cars to see who had a radar detector. I avoided being radar certified as if it was a bad disease.
