Yep, just thumb your nose at all those soldiers that gave their lives following the orders handed down from the POTUS of the time. Thumb your nose at the men and women that kept freedom in this country and insured you your opportunity to even hold the position you hold, Mr. President. mightyquinn 0 #4 May 27, 2010 1. Obama will be honoring the troops, but at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Illinois. 2. Obama did lay the wreath last year-- he is not "avoiding" the military. 3. Reagan skipped it in 1983 for a summit meeting. Bush skipped it in 1992 to stay in Maine on vacation and played golf (on vacation). Bush skipped out on it 2002 to speak in Normandy. Bush didn't go in 2007-- he stayed in Texas (on vacation). 4. Besides attending the memorial day observance in IL (as well as taking his two young daughters to their home state --they don't get to go very often), Obama will be visiting the Gulf Coast. This is a not even a news story. I don't know if this is the fault of the out of control right wing media (e.g. Beck) or of people who believe any sort of spin that is put on it without taking into account the source. We are in trouble.

billvon 2,998 #6 May 27, 2010 >Obama Disrespects Again . . . and decides that he will not attend the >memorial ceremony at Arligton Cemetary. Good. It will infuriate the Obama-haters, which is always fun to watch, and give him some more time to get work done (and he has a lot of it to do.) >Way to show how little you think of the sacrifices that were made to >protect our country. The best way to do that is to not start a war that kills US soldiers. Keeping soldiers alive shows far more respect for them than an empty PR gesture. Belgian_Draft 0 #8 May 27, 2010 Obama not being at Arlington on Monday is a not an issue. As others have pointed out there have been other Presidents to be somewhere other than Arlington on Memorial day. Some even had a good excuse. "Oh wait, he only does it to non-Republicans, my bad." Inproper use of commas. Feel better now? It hardly needs to be added that if Saddam does acquire the capability to deliver weapons of mass destruction, as he is almost certain to do if we continue along the present course, the safety of American troops in the region, of our friends and allies like Israel and the moderate Arab states, and a significant portion of the world’s supply of oil will all be put at hazard. As you have rightly declared, Mr. President, the security of the world in the first part of the 21st century will be determined largely by how we handle this threat. We urge you to act decisively. If you act now to end the threat of weapons of mass destruction against the U.S. or its allies, you will be acting in the most fundamental national security interests of the country. If we accept a course of weakness and drift, we put our interests and our future at risk. Sincerely, Elliott Abrams Richard L. Armitage William J.
