Lots of immigration talk. Here is a question

This will drift way off topic I am sure, but a simple question. Why do people try to ignore the fact that sneaking in the country is illegal? Why is it not an issue for some of you?

It is illegal.. and most countries will toss your ass in jail for doing so. If they want to come do so legally...period.... no exceptions.

Even with a security in depth border fence death zone... they will still find ways to come if there are financial incentives to do so.

I say put the people who hire them in jail and take away THEIR stuff bought with the profits they have made from hiring illegals instead of citizens... make the risks outweigh the financial rewards being reaped by those who hire them.

Make a viable guest worker program to fill the temp jobs needed in agriculture if that is needed.

I agree with you. It is just funny to me that when the argument comes up and people mention the simple fact that it is illegal. It gets ignored by people that want to let them stay.

I am NOT one who wants them to stay.

I think Americans should get the benefits of being citizens first and formost. The morons who think illegals are only taking jobs that lazy Americans will not do are WOEFULLY misinformed.

BILLIONS of dollars abe being made by Americans who are knowingly hiring illegals... they are the ones who are creating the problem.

Remove the financial incentive and the illegals will not come. Do not provide services to illegals and they will leave. I would only provide them with one service.. a free ride OUT.

Yes, they are illegal. So is speeding, so is talking on the cell phone while driving in many states, so is driving under the influence, and so is hiring illegals.

Not that they're not all wrong, but illegal stuff that doesn't target others doesn't tend to get a lot of attention. So we keep going after criminals who hurt others (and yes, I do think we should be checking on the status of anyone who enters the justice system), and hopefully on making it less attractive in systemic ways, rather than in stamping-out-every-last-illegal ways. Because we'll get a lot farther by making the job market unattractive or helping their country to be more attractive, than by trying to catch every one.

I don't understand that thinking by politicians. Illegals are not going to vote... period! They will do anything to avoid being tracked-down and sent back home. To them, voting leaves a 'paper trail'. Besides, illegals don't give a crap about voting or our politics, they just want all they can get and not be found.

That is always an argument, but they do target each and everyone of us. All those stolen SSN's. People get there credit ruined by stolen SSN's all the time.

How bad would it be if you went to retire and the Govt wont pay out on your Social Security because some illegals grandmother is already cashing in on it.

Or when your credit is ruined because and illegal used your SSN to buy a Flat Screen and a Truck that they couldnt afford.

I say "you", but dont mean you Wendy.

I agree. But I also know that employers looking for cheap labor will hire these illegals whenever possible to do the work that we legal americans probably wouldn't think of doing. [:/]

I wouldnt say that. They do vote. Another illegal thing that they do. No right to vote if they arent a citizen. A lot of them do vote...using someone elses info to register.

They vote for politicians that are going to make it easy for them to stay here.

You bet! Thinking back, In my younger years, I DID some of those jobs that some folks won't do now. You know what the problem is? Those folks who won't do certain jobs, just haven't been hungry enough. I've stocked grocery shelves, swept floors in a truck garage, worked in warehouses, mucked stalls and some others.

there will always be illegals - in every country, in every part of the world. It's all about how you manage it.

Just another thing in the USA that has been completely gutted by lowering taxes to a point where law enforcement cannot do their job. Everyone wants it done - no one is willing to pay for it.

The sad part is, there are laws on the books covering just what you said... they just aren't 'strictly enforced'.

Chuck

It only takes a will to do so.>:(

You're right! The problem is, the politicians with 'strong ties' to big business. After all, it's the politicians who have the control.

Hey, they're only doing what a lot of your ancestors did.

A lot are doimg it to make a living.. they are not always taking jobs from locals but taking jobs that locals wont do... Legislate for that and give them a legal, taxable status.

Bust the balls of the big people making shed loads of money out of the poor folk that have little or no choice.

Make it the land of the free and not the land of the freeloader by all means but don't tar everyone with the same brush.

I don't agree 100%. I think it has more to do with the government providing so many entitlements that your average idiot doesn't feel compelled to break his back doing those jobs anymore.

This is often repeated but I believe it is dead wrong. It is not that Americans won't take the job, they will if you pay them enough. The businesses can hire illegals a lot cheaper than they can hire American workers.

Votes plain and simple. The Dems in DC see these millions of illegals as a huge potential Dem voting block.

Is that why Reagan granted mass amnesty?

I don't know why Reagan did what he did. It obviously didn't work very well.

I AM enlightened! Thank you. In so many words, politicians are hoping the illegals will illegally vote for them. To think, we actually vote for these jerks! I have refused in the past to vote for any politician who is 'soft' on illegals. I don't see where I'm going to change my thinking.

That's what they are hoping for. Wouldn't surprise me if, our sorry politicians will do it too. Just for their own personal gain.
