The original Black Panthers were people doing what needed to be done to try liberate a group of people from the oppression and violence of an opposing group. If I were black and lived in those times I'd have been a panther, and been proud of it. You see you had two options, sit back and get your life and rights stamped on, or take a stand and fight. It's very easy for white people to sit back and talk shit about the panthers, since they don't know what it's like to live in such oppression and hatred against them. Boo hoo you can't get a parking space today? Wake the fuck up and see how shit was for blacks in the past. What can you as a citizen do when the government, police force as well as racist groups have control over your life. Run to the police? Oh.. wait.. You can't do that since you'd probably just be beaten by them anyway. So you have 2 options- sit back and become societies bitch. Or you take a stand and fight for the ability to just live without constant racism from the higher powers.
