falxori 0 #1 July 30, 2010 And, here we go again... Grad Katyusha rockets and mortar shells fired at Israeli city QuoteA Grad-type Katyusha rocket fired by Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip struck close to an apartment building in a residential area of Ashkelon on Friday, while two mortar shells exploded in the western Negev just a few hours later. While smaller rockets are being fired every now and then all the time at border towns, this is a military grade Katyusha rocket, targeting a major Israeli city. Not suprisingly, this happened as the PA and Israel are about to start direct negotiations again. I havn't seen any reports on this in the mainstream media. I wonder if they'll mention it if/when Israel retaliates or, as usual, will blame Israel... "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

falxori 0 #4 July 30, 2010 The Gaza strip has a border with Egypt too. Israel does not control Gaza, it controls its borders with Gaza, like any other country. Where does it say that a country has to provide acess or supplies (which Israel does, btw) to an enemy government? "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero." And most likely where to begin doesn't begin to describe what you wouldn't know about this. but anyway, back to the topic. My point wasn't to start the discussion that will probably happen anyway. It was to simply to point out that one day after the Arab league supported direct negotiations between the PA and Israel, Hamas is starting to cause trouble again. Damn! Did you even read the article (from an Israelian newspaper) you linked? "No group in Gaza claimed responsibility for the rocket fire. Hamas has said it is trying to stop militants from firing at Israel, but smaller groups have continued the attacks." "One day, your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it's worth watching." falxori 0 #13 July 30, 2010 Its very convenient to say they are "trying to stop militants from firing at Israel". Hamas is the government and security forces in Gaza. Rockets are fired from Gaza all the time. This specific one was much bigger and longer range. There are VERY few "organization" in Gaza that can launch such a rocket. Even more so doing it while Hamas is "trying to stop them". "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."

CanuckInUSA 0 #22 July 30, 2010 I don't think peace will ever come to Israel and Palestine. There is just too much bad blood on both sides. But as messed up as this conflict is, I think the real danger to the free world continues to grow in Pakistan. As fucked up as my country is (a country that allows a mother to murder her own daughter yet still be a free woman, a country that allows a judge to free a mentally deranged father despite the police warning to the judge that the man was dangerous and then the father proceeds to murder his three children, a country that allows you to walk on a Greyhound bus and proceed to decapitate an innocent young man and cannibalize his body by eating his eye balls in front of shocked on lookers and still not be found criminally responsible and allowed to have daily leisurely walks outside at the low security mental institute, a country that allows a man to admit in a court of law that he built the bomb that blew up an airplane that killed 329 people and yet still be allowed to walk as a free man in society). As fucked up as my country is. It is actually one of the better countries in the world. I guess what I am saying is, is that humans are a cancer to this planet with so much hate brewing around us. Let us who live in relative peace be thankful and enjoy each day to it's fullest because you never know when someone will murder you for no reason, you never know when rockets will reign down on you or some bomb will explode next to you. Darius11 12 #23 July 30, 2010 I have to tell you I like Canada. I know Immigration is a big issue and it has its flaws, but I like the Philosophy even if some people do abuse the system. My cousin and his wife have been there for a year. Yes they are immigrants who needed help at the start but they are also both PHDs. They both speak French and are still taking classes so they can learn the Canadian accent so they can best fit in. They can’t wait to do better so they can give back and already are. True Canada’s system has helped them at the cost of the taxes that the citizens like you pay, but that has provided them with a strong foundation needed to start a better life. So they will payback more then if they had to scrap to survive. They are both appreciative and understand that this is opportunity and people’s kindness. They look forward to being able to help others as they were helped when they entered the country. I guess the reason I am telling you this is because it’s not all bad news. Not everyone comes with intentions of let me take all I can take. Just like not every criminal is evil. I am sure you can find countless examples of people who made a mistake and because of the liberal system have been able to get a second or third chance. There are people who change and those chances not only help them they help society, as they become better people. We do tend to focus on the bad news because that’s what is news worthy. We have more good people then bad in this world at lest I think so. And don't call me buddy guy, i am not your guy freind I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
CanuckInUSA 0 #24 July 30, 2010 Darius I had a real wake up call back in 2005/2006 while working in downtown Vancouver. Prior to this I had spent 8 absolutely fantastic years in Colorado. But let's be honest here, Colorado is mainly white and hispanic. Hardly an environment to test your racial tolerance. I swear in Vancouver I was working at the United Nations. In our office there was only 3-4 of us traditional Canadian white guys. We had Chinese (expected in Vancouver), we had people from India (also expected) but here is where things really took off. We had people from South America, Pakistan, all over Europe especially eastern Europe. In fact the entire QA department was staffed by Russians (I swear it had to have been a conspiracy). The only continent that was not represented in my office was Africa. But I guess software development has not caught on there ... yet. Anyway it was a real wake up call. For the most part, the vast majority of these immigrants were smart intelligent hard working people. You are correct we hear about the bad apples. For every bad apple we hear about, there are smart hard working people who only want to better themselves. I would just like to see the bad apples tossed out of the country instead of our "hug a thug" mentality here. But this has nothing to do with Israel and Palestine. Have at it folks. I am off to the local race track this afternoon to drive my totally awesome German car around the track as fast as I possibly can. Whenever I think about politics a storm brews in me, so the less I think about them, the happier I am. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
