That was my point.
its good to remember guns are not just to protect us from criminals but also from tyranny. I think of the 2nd amendment as the guaranty or at least protector of all our other rights.

Have you ever noticed that the FIRST Amendment protects freedom of thought and the dissemination of it?

Speech, press and assembly are all means of sharing information.

The founding fathers seemed to think that was the first priority.

Then, the very next thing; before searches, trial rights, property rights, and all the other things in the Bill of Rights comes the right of the people to bear arms.

Perhaps the founding fathers felt that the people may have to defend their freedom of thought with force.

Many writings (Jefferson in particular) suggest that they felt that there would need to be armed insurrection to overthrow tyrants on a fairly regular basis.

so take your views to a country that has your views.

Let me see if i can explain this in crayon for you.

Views formed by only understanding one side of the story are usually wrong or at the very minimum very skewed.

Also what you say is rubbish every country has people who have different views.

If the only thing you can come up with is go back to where you came from maybe its time to reevaluate your beliefs, that would be the intelligent thing to do.

this country was built by people that did not like or want socialist or dictatorship style government. A large majority of the people today still feel the same way. what I don't understand is why some would leave their country because they feel america is a better country and then try to turn our country into what they left by changing us to a more socialist country. If a socialist government is better why don't they stay in their own country, if our country is so much better to make someone want to come here why change it?

The short answer is: That's because you've been indoctrinated to have a simplistic view of concepts such as socialism, dictatorship, capitalism, democracy and freedom.

?on or about what?

I think they were right on the money and some the smartest leaders any country has ever had.

I view the Constitution as the single most well written document EVER written for the humane condition.

Now it might not always do what you want but that's the point. It protects every citizens rights regardless of what the masses wish to believe. It lets us have a country that is truly free.

I can think of things that as an individual i would like but that's the issue once an individual is making the decision or even just the majority you can always have tyranny.

I really do wish some of the people here would have paid a little more attention in school instead of worrying about the football games or parties later in the week.....
