One New Yorker's perspective on the "Ground Zero mosque"

As much as I regret having to use a Faux News link - it's the most info I could find and it seems the church itself is the issue.
Port Authority has it seems given them permission to rebuild. They want a different location though. Between that issue and the other property desired being owned by the NY/NJ Port Authority I think this debate could go on for years while the planned Mosque is on privately owned property.

Church

didnt follow your link but this story was on the news here in NYC last night. Seems that the Port Authority has moved on with out the church. The withdrew the offer to give money and allow them to use the proposed land. They are free to build, but not where they wanted to and not with the money they had been promised. Seems they were not even notified that the offer had been withdrawn.

So in other words they can build on their original location but do not get free government land or money. Doesn't seem that bad.

I'm not saying they should or should not get money. Just saying what was stated on the NY1 last night. Seems they had a deal with the Port Authority and then the Port Authority backed out with out telling them.

Don't remember if it was Federal or State funds that they had been promised.

Timothy McVeigh was a Republican, an NRA member and raised a Roman Catholic. Maybe the OKC bombing should be associated with all those organizations.

But he didnt stand up and say.... "I blow up this building in the name of Regan, Heston and the Pope!" He was politically motivated right?

In a way, yeah. The OKC bombing was kind of in revenge for the government's heavy handed tactics at Ruby Ridge. Not sure exactly though.

I remember that he had some strong feelings about Ruby Ridge and I think he may have even traveled there and watched some of what went on. But I don't remember him ever saying that he blew up the building for religious beliefs. Obviously the way the govt handled the situation had some type of effect on him though.

Oh, and I retract Heston's name. HE was pissed about gun control. lol

>yes as long as the priests are sent to jail if guilty.

Cool. So as long as the people responsible for 9/11 go to jail, then there's no problem with a mosque near the WTC site.

as long as those building the mosque are in no way associated with or recieving money from anyonyone that believes or supports the radical muslims that caused 911 and we know from interviews this is not the case.

Sounds like you are changing your story!

But if you want to change it, OK. We can build churches near playgrounds only if we know that Christian churches are in no way associated with or defending those pedophile priests. And we know this is not the case; the Vatican itself has been involved with hiding and defending pedophile priests.

So I take it that you are not OK building churches near playgrounds and schools now? If so, I'll at least give you points for consistency.
