Michael Moore is a great example of someone on the liberal side who plays with words to put his point across.

Which channel/station is he a daily commentator on again?

Wendy P.

She jumps from channel to channel and from station to station.

If he could get a job doing that, he would. He just can't.

CNN. May 2003. Assault Weapons Ban story. A complete fabrication. Proven deception. Involved a Broward county law enforcement officer who has no problem playing fast and loose with the facts.

August 2009, Contessa Brewer (MSNBC):

"On Tuesday, MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer fretted over health care reform protesters legally carrying guns: 'A man at a pro-health care reform rally...wore a semiautomatic assault rifle on his shoulder and a pistol on his hip....there are questions about whether this has racial overtones....white people showing up with guns.'"

And here's a picture of the racist in question...link

I don't understand your post. Note: I agree that Michael Moore is pretty much exactly the same kind of person as Hannity or Beck. I don't like him much at all.

My only point is that we really don't hear from him all that much. He makes roughly one art-house-cinema movie a year, so I don't really think his impact is anything close to comparable.

The examples requested by Darius were for news outlets. Pretty clear in his post.

Nothing to say about the example I put up?

Edit to add:
Or Mike's?

OK, so long as we're clear that you didn't like turtle's example, not that you didn't think other outlets did the exact same thing on a daily basis.

The whole channel is entertainment, but for some it seems to be the bible.:S

Fox News just saying it is funny. It should be Fox Propaganda for the ignorant not as catchy but a lot more honest.

Nah its more like Pravda was to the Communist Party in the Soviet Union.

It never ceases to amaze me that all these people who "LEAN" to the right around here...... parrot the daily talking points as thought up by Lush Rimjob, Sean Insannity, and Glenn "The Crying Man" Beck and still think their "news" is "Fair and Balanced":S:S:S:S

Pravda supported the party in power.
So you're saying that Fox News is now a Democrat mouthpiece.:P

or did some other agency take over the Pravda role in the last two years?

You really think every news outlet edits clips to mislead and misinform the public? To the point that at time the speaker is shown to be saying the opiset of what was actully said?

Would love to see exsamples.

I have a sample for you on how our Leftist CBC (you know the publicly funded "Communist Broadcasting Corporation" up here in Canuckistan) careful edits select words taken from a press conference and repackages them as a completely different story on their nightly news broadcast.

Do you have an open enough mind to watch this? or do you still believe only Fox doctors it's news editing?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDw5a0_iFBk&feature=related

and here is the rebuttal from the CBC once they were outed for their bias editing propaganda.

Oh so you would like the rePUBICan Party to be the Official Party of our Country. Great.... so then in your wet dream "conservative" America do you think FAUX News would get to lead the daily prayers too?

You seem to forget that Pravda was the official propaganda outlet for the Communist Party of the Soviet Union which was the only LEGAL party in the USSR. There weren't any other party in power in the USSR after Lenin consolidated power?

Do you grasp the difference between News and commentary? I know there is no difference in your world of ABC CBS NBC and CNN . . . but there really is a distinction.

Once you can tell the difference, watching Fox is informational as one side of the argument, not the Gospel of Dan Rather.

Is there anybody out there? Anybody? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

Darius asked for hard evidence (which I provided) of a major media organization who has purposely edited something in order to portray a story completely false of what was actually said in the news conference for it's own political propaganda purposes.

Is there anybody out there? Bueller?

What is the moral to all of this? Do NOT trust only one single news source, as a source who is telling the complete truth. Do not trust what only Fox News is saying without checking other sources. Do not trust MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS and NBC and whatever you do, do not trust the "Communist Broadcasting Corporation" (otherwise known as the CBC) to give you anything other than the agenda they wish to pursue. The media has started a culture war and it is so obvious what they are trying to do if people would only open up their eyes and take off their partisan blinders.

The media is not your friend. The media is out to manipulate you. Seek numerous sources before you formulate an independent opinion on a given news topic.

Now with all that said ... I don't always agree with everything Jon Stewart says or does, but he is a funny guy who more often than not provides an entertaining view of the world's events. Don't trust everything the comedian is telling you, but have a good laugh with him as he slams the people who are trying to manipulate you. And once more, Jon Stewart was slamming more than just Fox News. The title to this thread is misleading. ;)

I wasn't going to count that, or the photo of "burning Gaza" that another one published, or even the cropped flotilla picture that excluded the knife. Yes, obviously they should have been checked and discarded, but the same thought process that leads to outright lies and fabrication can also lead to accepting questionable sources because they support the story you WANT to tell. But ultimately those are forgeries of others. Publishing media can claim incompetance instead of malicious intent.

They can claim whatever they want.

He resigned so as not to escalate the situation. I would hev fought it for my integrity, but for some reason, he didn't.

I was just distinguishing between media publishing the lies forgeries and deception of others and the lies forgeries and deception they create themselves. Was trying to keep it on point for Darius and anyone else who doubted or questioned my assertion that media outlets regularly create and publish fiction and portray it as fact.

However, in a more general sense, I completely agree with you that both types completely undermine any claim to equity or integrity.

If you don't like him - don't watch him.

He is not a News Reporter . . . He is there as entertainment.

Isn't that what all these so-called newscasters are? I prefer Jon stewart over any of them. at least, he's honest about it.

I don't see the difference between what Hannity did (IF indeed the producers of his show clipped the video where they did, or if Jon did some quick clips of his own, which should be confirmed first) and what Dan Rather did.

No - some of them actually think they are giving the news, completely unbiased.

They really do.
