if you really need me to i'll catch you up !

Please do! This should be good.

(nice voice) earlier in the thread it was asserted that two people who love each other should be able to get married . i pointed out that animals were people too , according to libs. then a lib called me out on that observation. so i had to point out the relative value of human life compared to other life. but still in all we're still discriminating against threesomes. and larger family types. so much for free love ! hope this was about as good as you were looking forward to !

>So you are saying that some people have no choice what they believe.

People have no choice as to what they ARE. They do have a choice what to believe.

If you are born without eyes, you can believe fervently that you can see, or that you will be healed, or that your sense of hearing can overcome your inability to see. But you'd still be blind no matter what you chose to believe.

So now you are equating Homosexuality with disability.

Or are you comparing faith and belief with disability?

Nope. Although for a long time homosexuality was indeed a disability - heck, it would get you executed in some places. Fortunately that's no longer true.

>Or are you comparing faith and belief with disability?

No again. Faith and belief are great - but they won't make you see (or turn straight if you're gay, or become gay if you're straight.)

Humans are only more important to themselves. I'm not sure the earth cares.

There are genetic markers that are strong predictors for homosexuality. But like nearly all human traits, there isn't one "switch" you can point to and say "that's what causes this to happen."

That is like alcoholism. There are indicators for the predilection of the disease but the individual still has to make a choice in favor of it for the alcoholism to manifest.

A terrible analogy. A person born with a predeiliction toward alcoholism must ingest a sufficient amount of alcohol for the disease to manifest. For a person with the alcoholism trait, he makes a choice to begin drinking, or not. The ingestion of alcohol is the triggering mechanism for the disease. On the other hand, a person born homosexual is homosexual from birth; he does not need to ingest...
:|
Let me start again. A person born homosexual will be homosexual, and feel consciousness of his homosexuality, even if he never has sex with another person his entire life. Choice only controls his conduct; it does not control, or even trigger, what he is.

Can you prove that?

I did not choose to be gay. I just am.

Voila - Proof!
God exists! Wait - there is no proof of that.

That's a different topic...but for what it's worth, Im a gay Christian

My statement is that it is just as easy for someone to prove that God exists as it is to prove that you are born gay, just because someone says it is that way.

The analogy would be closer if being left-handed were considered immoral.

Wendy P.

Oh dear, I can't resist. It is in some beliefs and it was in the past. Sinister was equated with left hand.

Yes, and a lot of kids were taught that being left-handed was wrong, and were forced to convert to right-handed. Which often made their lives very difficult.

And fortunately, we have grown past that (at least in societies that use toilet paper). We don't treat lefties as "wrong", although life is still difficult for us (I'm a lefty myself) in many ways.

Maybe, just maybe, we are growing as a society and in the near future, sexuality will be treated similar to handedness. That those who are different aren't ostracized, told to change, and told that their behavior is a choice.

I didn't choose to like girls. I just do.
No matter who the guy might be, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, or whoever is the big "hunk" these days. I won't be sexually attracted to him.

But it doesn't have to be Angelina Jolie for me to be very attracted to her boobies:)
The only choice I have in the matter is how I behave in regards to those feelings.

We're definitely moving in that direction. We accepted women voting, black rights, interracial marriage and now we're coming to accept homosexuality. Today there are tens of thousands of legally married gay couples in California alone, and the next generation is growing up with gay men and women who aren't ostracized or required to be criminals to be themselves. They won't see gays as strange or sinful or evil, just different.

In 50 years people will look back on the opposition to gay rights the same way people today look back on the people who didn't want blacks to be able to marry whites.

That's crap. I only wish that the socially maladjusted adult males who invented that sick concept centuries ago were alive today so they could be horsewhipped.

For what purpose? Does the fantasy of an archaic form of punishment make your viewpoint any more realistic? If we are not born into sin, how is it that every single person alive commits sin? Or do you know people who are perfect and without sin. Please let me know. I would travel to the ends of the earth to meet such a person.

Perhaps because we sin after we're born, not before. I don't know of many six week old babies who have committed sins.

Good point....

IMHO every argument comes down to "To each his own"...and we just all need to tolerate....

I get that.

I even agree with it.

But I know quite a few people that have had bad experiences with the tolerance thing.

What would you say to do about the "uncomfortableness" ?

So, again: I'm a female person.

RonD1120 .... ?

Safe moral sex is between one man and one woman in the holy state of matrimony. All other sex is a perversion.

But, as I said earlier, sex is sacred. Lust is difficult to satisfy because it tends to seek more and different. Examine the multi-billion dollar porn industry. Signs of the end times.
Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

Exactly what I am saying. The Bible says that we are born with a sin nature that is inherited through the paternal DNA. It begins to manifest itself as our self awareness develops. God has given us a means of escaping our self destructive sin nature.

But our mitochondrial DNA is sin-free? Now that's an interesting theory!

It's from the parents mitocondrial dna.

Don't you know ANYTHING?

Ah, but mitochondrial DNA comes only from the mother! So if all the sin DNA comes from paternal DNA, then mitochondrial DNA should be sin-free.

I always thought the women were the sinful ones, anyway. The snake and the apple and all that.

A diploid component of DNA means male and female are in the same boat. The immaculate conception and virgin birth of Christ allowed Him to be human without a sin nature.
