health care is not a right , health is not a right , care is not a right . life , liberty , and the pursuit of happiness are. health care should be earned , health can be earned . many health care professionals offer free health care . no one should force anyone with the weight of federal law to support anothers health care .

Pretty cold-blooded. I prefer a humane society.

Got a bit of a contradiction there.

An 8 year old shows up in an ER, hit by a car. You know as surely as you can that her parents won't pay. She will die without care. Do you let her die?

Nice Bill. That doesn't happen and you know it.

8 year olds hit by cars or parents who can't pay?

The scenario desribed is much more likely in a perfect tea bagger world than any death panel would be under Obama.

haven't we been over this a few times? There are laws on the books now that say that the ER must treat your fictional 8yo girl.

I prefer to try to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem. You do whatever you wish.

Which all of our taxpayer money pays for. Which burdens the EMS Trauma centers, causing many to close their doors.

yes... I can see you're familiar with the arguments.

That was inhumane and outrageous, and not worhty of a modern, civil society.

And you base this on how many years of fire service....or even public service work? Managed a fee based response system, perhaps...maybe it's option "D"=you really don't have a fucking clue what you're talking about.

As I said up-thread: cold-blooded. It really comes out here in SC.

Facts, not arguments.

sorry.... forgot that on your side of the fence, arguments can't be facts.

The best arguments are based on facts, but facts in and of themselves aren't arguments.

Pure water at standard atmospheric pressure freezes at 0°C; fact.
Pure water at standard atmospheric pressure boils at 100°C; fact.

An argument made from those facts would be;

Pure water at standard atmospheric pressure freezes at 0°C and boils at 100°C, therefore pure water at standard atmospheric pressure is liquid between 0°C and 100°C.

An argument is a conclusion based on facts. The validity of the argument rests on the validity and relevance of the facts presented.

Bad arguments attempt to tie facts that aren't true or relevant to a logical conclusion.

Knowing the difference between what is true and relevant and what is not is the difference between progress and burning witches at the stake.

This is the so-called "consensus" of scientists? A very well respected librarian recently proved that water boils at 95C at her house! So much for "consensus science!" Why can't you keep an open mind like the really smart people?

you say that as if it's impossible for water to boil at 95C

I'm not on any "side". I was just stating facts, we have a form of socialized medicine in America now. It's been around for years. After 31 years in the "Trauma" biz, I have seen first hand what it costs for indigent healthcare, illegal immigrant health care and uninsured health care. Something has to be done in the emergency medical field, because the 911 system is overloaded and abused to no end. But that's another thread entirely. Now back to the Tea Party discussions.

Hard to pursue happiness if your child is dying because you can't afford health care.

Sorta my point.

As well as mine. Just leave out a couple of details like the water must be pure and at standard pressure and the "facts" change quite a bit.

Hey, did you know there is a temperature and pressure at which water exists in all three states; solid, liquid and gas?

Fuckin' scientist. Can't they agree on anything?

>so because I can get water to boil at 95C, you admit that
>AGW (consensus science) is junk?

Nope. However, by ignoring the science behind an anomalous event (like water boiling at 95C) you can seemingly support any denier position. "See? There was an anomalous result in this series of temperatures! Therefore AGW is junk."

I'd say that if a person thinks just because it's possible to boil water at 95°C it invalidates (consensus) science, then they probably don't have a good enough understanding of science in general to make informed comments about global warming.

I'm not even talking a PhD. level of understanding, but an honest to god "holy shit how come you didn't learn that in high-school" understanding.
