Actually I call it "Liberal arrogance" and it happens all the time up here north of the border. The Liberals have always assumed that they had the ethnic voters in their pockets and in doing so proceeded to alienate these very same people. Turns out some of these ethnic voters are hard working tax payers and they got sick of the Liberal entitlement attitude and jumped ship over to the ever so hated Conservative ranks. To this day it is hilarious watching a Liberal squirm when a person of a visible ethnic heritage does not consume the Liberal "Natural Governing Kool-Aid". And if I was informed correctly a rep latina is now govenor of new mexico and 2 rep blacks were elected in texas in mostly white areas. yep the rep's are racist.
