Waterboarding saved lives - G Bush

One should be able to trust your leaders and their allies to abide by the laws..... I don't.

If that were true, those highly intelligent forefathers we have wouldn't have felt that we needed to include the second amendment.

I didn't trust the twat before - why would it change because he;s trying to sell a book ?

Trust me watch the video and listen to the audio feed. The jounalist lasted 12 seconds the first time and then when the CIA told him that 30 seconds was about the longest people lasted being British he wanted to try again to see if he could beat it:D

The audio feed has some interesting analysis. The WMD evidence for Iraq was obtained by torture - look how reliable that was[:/]

Waterboarding saved lives

Yes...they weren't shot in the head.

waterboarding is not lethal, unless bitten by a shark.

Nice christian love:P Torture is fine cause you weren't killed. Should torture victims thank you for sparing their lives?

Hopefully you were being sarcastic.

Torture is defined by the 1949 UN Convention against Torture as "any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person..." in order to get information.

The US is signed up to the Convention. The eighth amendment to the US Constitution banning "cruel and unusual punishment" is also held to prohibit torture.

Mr Bush admits that he was shocked when no weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq after the 2003 invasion.

.

This is followed by the admission of Bush that he was "mortified about the false intelligence that lead to the war on Iraq". BUT

Quote

No one has yet offered any validated evidence that torture produces reliable intelligence. While torture apologists frequently make the claim that torture saves lives, that assertion is directly contradicted by many Army, FBI, and CIA professionals who have actually interrogated al Qaeda captives. Exhibit A is the torture-extracted confession of Ibn al-Shaykh al-Libi, an al Qaeda captive who told the CIA in 2001, having been "rendered" to the tender mercies of Egypt, that Saddam Hussein had trained al Qaeda to use WMD. It appears that this confession was the only information upon which, in late 2002, the president, the vice president, and the secretary of state repeatedly claimed that "credible evidence" supported that claim, even though a now-declassified Defense Intelligence Agency report from February 2002 questioned the reliability of the confession because it was likely obtained under torture. In January 2004, al-Libi recanted his "confession," and a month later, the CIA recalled all intelligence reports based on his statements.

right....
both civilians There,,,,
and our heroic Troops and National Guard people, from HERE,,, many of whom NEVER bargained for being sent to that Hell Hole,, when they first signed up..

After watching some of G W s' interviews, AND doing so, with an open mind,, and willingness to Listen to HIS side of the story,,,
I came away disgusted at the shit eating Grin... which seems to be His standard M. O.>:(
He's talking about Death, and chaos, and he's grinning....!!!
hasn't ANYone ( i.e. his ADVISORS ) EVER told him, how he comes across????:S:|:S

his arrogance is palpable.... I can accept arrogance born of skill and /or acomplishment,
But arrogance born of a self imagined capablility, bugs the hell outta me....

There is very little to be proud of GW....
Yes we were hit and hit hard, in NYC,, on 9 -11... and it was cowardly as it was bold...AND it WASS on "his watch"...
However it's been claimed to be "an act of War", and so served as justification to deploy into Afghanistan...
I would have thought that an 'act of war' can only be perpetrated by one Sovereign Nation,,,,against another..
Al Queda operatives are fringe radicals,, and certainly NOT any sort of Nation.....
so tell me again.....how that Civil Crime..... started not One war ,, but two....

So G W Bush cares little "what people think of me"... and claims "history will write my legacy"....
i wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.. But he simply helped to justify how i've felt about him, ever since his "Aw Shucks" country boy image , came across our tv news shows,,,,, from back when he governed texas...

some things NEVER change..

A while back here in Z-Hills, they renamed 6th Ave to "Martin Luther King Blvd" which caused a huge uproar in the City.

At a meeting where hundreds of people (especially the white racists wrapped in their American Flag shirts) stood at Council bellowing their objections. One of them said (rather loudly) "The actions of Martin Luther King DIRECTLY cost American soldiers their lives....", referring to the Vietnam War.

I thought....the actions of Lyndon B Johnson and Congress
are what actually cost American soldiers their lives. They are the ones that sent them into harm's way. hindsight clearly demonstrates that Vietnam was a waste of money and lives.

My case is that Afghanistan and Iraq are and were a waste of lives - ours and theirs.

Whatever way you want to look at it. No war - no one can die from war. No disease, no one can die from disease. etc.

Do you really believe in your heart that thousands of of those same people would not have died wether we went in or not?

Any life taken is a waste. It is just a very difficult thing and a heavy burdenm that leaders hold on their shoulders, to decide which ones are justified.

True dat. However, when it's clear that the lives of the people we are supposed to be defending aren't held to be as valuable as the lives of the defenders, there's something wrong.
