jclalor 12 #7 December 18, 2010 QuoteQuoteBTW, Billions is a drop in the bucket to the "Trillions" that are truely being wasted! 160 billion is 18% of 1 trillion, If you think that is a drop in the bucket, salute. 160 billion for one year and what do we have to show for it, thousands of troops who are dead, injured or suffering with PSD for the rest of their lives. If the Soviets could not win with their brutal style of warfare, we don't stand a prayer. For the last ten years all we have heard is the "progress we are making" WTF, ten years with no end to this war in sight. Afghanistan is the corruption capital of the world, just a few weeks back their VP was caught at an airport at the UAE with fifty million dollars in his luggage. wonder if that was US money or money from the opium trade. I'm taking any and all bets that this is a fucking loosing battle. While I voted for Obama, this is his biggest mistake throwing good money and lives at a lost cause. rehmwa 2 #10 December 19, 2010 QuoteWould you prefer to lose the war in favor of reducing spending? absolutely. To stay the premier superpower, will require winning the war as the economic superpower, not winning tactical military demonstrations. The wars in Afghan and Iraq should stop, what good could be accomplished is done, more presence is diminished returns, the locals need to take care of themselves now. The global terror battle is better handled covertly, now miltarily. That is also more economical. The war now is exactly an economic one - the one we have been dramatically losing the last 11 years with the last 2-1/2 years the losing has accelerated ridiculously so. Edit: of course, cutting military spending is STILL only one of the BIG THREE catagories of government spending that needs dramatic cuts ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants

That's just utter nonsense. All of the focus after 9/11 should have been on Afghanistan. Instead, Bush put Afghanistan into endless circle-jerk mode while he acted-out his Oedipus complex in Iraq, and exsanguinated our economy, to boot. That administration's malfeasance in Iraq was so criminal they should all be prosecuted.
