But then, just for the hell of it, I checked my own calendar and realized the damn thing ended on Dec 31, 2010!! WTF!! Just in time I rushed down to Staples and got a new one and I'm good for another year. Whew! I'm wondering if the whole 2012 thing is going to ramp up as that year approaches, or die down as all the superstitious numpties realise that people will remember how stupid and gullible they made themselves sound once 00:01 rolls around on 1st of Jan 2013.Do you want to have an ideagasm? AggieDave 6 #28 January 3, 2011 You're going to get all worked up about all of that other stuff and you're going to ignore the excellent TNG reference? You won't even bring up any argument that Picard and Q had nothing to do with it, but it was the Preservers race that had populated ancient worlds with their DNA that spurred life on those planets. The mayans were correct with the current calendar within a few seconds of the calendar we use every day. And in the summer solstace in 2012 all the planets will line up into a singular planetary alignment Last time that happened? 26,000 years ago.

freethefly 6 #38 January 3, 2011 QuoteGod knew that Adam would sin... God already knew that Adam would sin? Why would a perfect God create a life and destine that life to fail? The whole Adam and Eve story does not make any sense. It is fiction. If I were to believe the story, then I would have to assume that God had set Adam up to sin in order to have reason to punish him. Not a very good God. If God did not set Adam up to sin, and it was only a flaw in Gods design then I would have to assume that God is not perfect. Quote...that all would happen and that he would have to send His Son to die to sacrifice for those sins. God planned to allow the life he created to suffer miserably and to sin at will just so he can knock up a virgin (who was most likely 13 to 15yo), have a son out of wedlock, have him tortured and nailed on to a torture device (the cross) to "die" and then miraculously come back to life so that all future sin is forgiven? Why would any so called "loving" God plan so much pain and misery for people whom he claims to love. Sounds like worldwide domestic abuse, to me."...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." The next alignment of significance is in 2040: According to http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2000/ast30mar_1m.htm, the next planetary alignment will occur Sept 8, 2040 at approximately 7:30 pm. The planets involved will include Mercury, Venus, Earth (because you're on it!), Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and the crescent Moon. We're only missing the Sun and Saturn (give current notions on the solar system). And the standard for this is to be within 25 degrees, not dead on. It would be nearly impossible to get the outer planets (yes, Pluto is a fucking planet, nerds) given their long revolution and Pluto being off axis. If you say that the planets wont line up like the other hundred or so people I watch on the history channel I am unable to challenge that, and therefore will not go into that discussion. However, this is only my belief...but I think humans are becoming 'too smart' for our own good. Pretty soon CERN will have an particle accelerator up to full capacity that could reveal some of the hidden parts of life god probably doesnt want us to know about. But then again thats just my opinion.
