"Beyond the shadow of a doubt, May 21 will be the date of the Rapture and the day of judgment," he said.

The doctrine known as the Rapture teaches that believers will be taken up to heaven, while everyone else will remain on earth for a period of torment, concluding with the end of time. Camping believes that will happen in October.

So, it seems that I'll, no doubt, have until October. Cool, more time to ride and skydive!:)

On several levels I am kind of hoping I get to stick around after the rapture, I think I could be quite good at helping with the tormenting.

I know of a few people that are in severe need of tormenting incessantly

Camping, 89, believes the Bible essentially functions as a cosmic calendar explaining exactly when various prophecies will be fulfilled.

The retired civil engineer said all his calculations come from close readings of the Bible, but that external events like the foundation of the state of Israel in 1948 are signs confirming the date.

"Beyond the shadow of a doubt, May 21 will be the date of the Rapture and the day of judgment," he said.

I wonder if he has gotten together with Bill to compare notes.

Without Bill Coles exact evaluation, nothing will happen. Let's wait for him.

At first, he has to check the bibles.

OTOH:
Dead black birds falling out of the sky over Little Rock :o:o Heaven help us ....

:)

Truly a disaster of nearly almost biblical proportions, maybe.

These people really annoy me!

The Bible they are using to come up with this nonsense says this in Matthew 24:36:

Quote

"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Gee, maybe they should spend less time being alarmist and spend more time trying to live a life that glorifies their God and his New Testament teachings? You know, love your neighbor and the like.
--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

My personal favorite is when someone has "Christian" stickers on their vehicle or personalized license plates along the same lines and they're driving like complete assholes. Real aggressive. Way to lead by example there sparky!

Every religion and sect of that religion has good people and bad people; also at the end of the day they're just people. People with faults and a free will and the ability to make mistakes, large and small.

Yup. Like I said before: "actions and activities, not make and model."

That phrase and the practical meaning behind it applies to a lot of things in this line of work.

But remember... the whole "love your neighbor" thing seems to be a real hot button with a whole lot of preachers too:)

Seems there are a couple of those 10 Commandments about neighbors... and loving them a bit too much is also an "issue"

The entire 10 Commandments thing bothers me as well. Paul wrote about how the old Jewish laws didn't apply to Christians, but they were a good general guideline as to how to try to live your life. He talked about trying to live as Jesus did, with care, charity and loving. He talks about this in a few places, but Romans 7 is a favorite of mine, about that topic.

This is an example as to why I can't stand to go to Church. It isn't the message, it isn't the Bible, its the so-called "Christians" that go to church. They want to serve the Old Testament God that told his children to slaughter every last living creature in a war, when the New Testament is a new covenant with God to live a caring life as shown and taught by His Son.

When I was in High School one of my teachers gave us something to read. It was something an author wrote back in the 19th Century. It was interesting as everything the author had predicted had come true in the 20th century and the final item on this author's list was that the world come to an end in 1984. I took three things out of this experience:

1) Every day since 1984 is a bonus day. B|

2) I am dating myself since I graduated from HS before 1984. :)

3) What the hell was my teaching thinking, giving their students such nonsense to read. :S

I don't know about you people, but I am not planning on living forever. I do however have a hunch that my end will come well before the world ends.

Oh, I though it was more about the Christian fashion show every Sunday Morning such as we had at our church, that and making sure the appropriate 10% was given to the pastor for helping all of us with all of our sins.

If you want to break down a huge theological discussion about it, you can sum it up (a bit oversimplified) as God knew that Adam would sin, that all would happen and that he would have to send His Son to die to sacrifice for those sins. That and he sent Jesus at the time he needed to come.

It isn't logical, its religion, it requires a step of faith. You either believe it or you don't, or you believe something else. Even science has a step of faith to it. No one was around to see the primordial stew, but we believe it happened from reasoned deduction...or faith.;)

That or we can believe that Q sent Picard back in time to witness a spatial anomaly and then sent him forward in time to cause and fix the problem. This was so the primordial stew (which happened to be in France), was to complete it's chemical reaction and start evolution.

Whatever you wish to believe.:D

There again is the Ol "sent his son to die" for our sins...Now that is one sick mother fucker!

His son dies at the hands of Sadist, that beat him, then nail him to a cross, (more likely a stack, but doesn't look cool at the front of catholic churches, or hanging around your neck) To die of basically exposiour!

This is a Loving God? Plus, If the bible is true, he didn;t die, he went to the side of the father, why allow torcher before he died?[:/] How about pull the plug , and have him die before he could reach the cross ruining the day for the romans?

I am a Firm believer in "Faith" , I have Seen "Faith" heal , I have seen it raise hopes, That same Faith has been brought up by false profits, as many times as religious prfits..I havae even witnessed a Santanic faith healing!

Faith is in teh human brain, we all have the power, seem most can only unleash it, by using a "key" be it the bible, preacher, amulate, or sometimes even Hate!

...and your hunch is correct! The earth will be no more in about 5 billion years due to the evolution of a star. The very star that allowed life to evolve will ultimately allow it death.

Which is obviously bollocks, because Genesis isn't real.

Quote

that all would happen and that he would have to send His Son to die to sacrifice for those sins.

Which makes no sense anyway. Why is an omnipotent being constrained by the need to receive sacrifice before he can absolve sins? I wonder if he needed to fill in a 27B-6 before he could go ahead with the sacrifice?

It requires a complete absence of reason.

Of course, there is that other small thing, that tiny little thing that sets science apart from religion, now what is is called? E... ev... oh yeah! Evidence.
Do you want to have an ideagasm?
