The Class War Launched by America's Wealthiest Is Getting More Savage

Recommended Posts

>or leave them unemployed and poorer.

If you'd rather do that, then by all means, go for it. You won't get much support from me (or from the rich people who rely on educated, skillful people to keep them rich.)

>you seem to be an adherent of the 'trickle down' from the rich theory
>which has been totally discredited. i believe wealth comes from the
>bottom up - always has done.

The trickle down theory is as much bullshit as the trickle up theory. Wealth does not come from either place. It comes from an economic system that rewards people for their labor. Trying to destroy it in order to impose your system of fairness on it society is counterproductive, if your goal is prosperity.

Now, if your goal is to force your own preferred social order on people, then you might be able to justify such actions to yourself. Just beware - the people you have to destroy to do so might resent your actions.

There is a reason companies help pay for college classes taken by their employees.

you're confusing 'companies' with the 'rich'. and i'm really talking about the class of 'super rich' here not so much the poorer rich :)
society will stratify - no doubt. but the extremes we are getting to are not sustainable. it won't end well...

and i'm saying people aren't being rewarded fairly for their labour (even monkies can tell when they're not getting their just rewards). and it is the super rich who are in the process of trying to destroy the current system through their own greed. the bankers have had a good go - and it isn't over yet...

i don't think increasing inheritance tax is going to 'destroy' anyone - but it might just rebalance society to an equitable level...

Christianity

"The eye of a needle" is part of a saying of Jesus recorded in the synoptic gospels:

...I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

Parallel versions appear in Matthew 19:23-24, Mark 10:24-25, and Luke 18:24-25.

The saying was a response to a young rich man who had asked Jesus what he needed to do in order to inherit eternal life. Jesus replied that he should keep the commandments, to which the man stated he had done. Jesus responded, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." The young man became sad and was unwilling to do this. Jesus then spoke this response, leaving his disciples astonished.

So, you admit your 'bottom up' theory is bullshit? That's a start.

Ok, so now that you have totally lost any argument you thought you had, you now try to shrink the pool of "rich people" that are trying to prey on the poor.
That dog don't hunt, buddy. In my argument you can use either "rich people" or "companies" interchangeably.
Care to try to shoot it down again or are you getting tired of beating a dead horse?

And the rich came from where? Out of thin air?

Every post you make shows more and more of your jealousy of those who, for any reason, have more than you. You say you are happy having enough to make a few jumps a day but your words here speak volumes against that idea.

His trading company employs about 500 people. All the traders have advanced degrees. I'm not sure how many his real estate companies and hotel employ. His household staff is 12, and he employs 2 pilots. Incidentally, he didn't inherit any of it.

(incidentally, I am a firm believer in an estate tax, and I believe the ongoing shift of wealth to the rich from the middle class is bad for the nation).

you're talking about all the welfare paid out to the bankers. i agree they should pay their own way same as the rest of us...

No - I was talking about personal welfare, like the kiond the government gives you for doing nothing to earn it.

yeh, like the bankers...

No, more like what you assume inheritance to be.

Just because you think you are deserving, doesn't make it so.

You seem to respond to your own posts - why is it that you cannot seem to answer simple questions - Is it just because the comments differ from your own and you can't find a way around them?

You just responded to your own post.:P
