happythoughts 0 #1 January 23, 2011 clicky The short version? 3 masked men threw 6 firebombs at his house (and his doghouse). He got his safely-stored, and legally licensed, gun out and fired warning shots to drive off the attackers. So... the police arrested him. Reason? You can't fire at people burning your house. You can only fire if they are in your house threatening you. (Personally, if they burn your house down on top of you, I consider it a threatening problem.) QuoteA target shooter and hunting-safety instructor, Mr. Thomson had the skill to shoot his attackers if he’d wanted to, Mr. Burlew said, but missed on purpose. Apparently, people are becoming irritated with the system. QuoteIn October, Toronto shopkeeper David Chen was acquitted of forcible confinement charges after he tied up a repeat shoplifter and demanded he stop raiding his grocery store. How dare he ? Kennedy 0 #5 January 23, 2011 I remember when they said it would only cost $2 million. Five years ago it was pushing a billion, with a B, in expenditures and taking in only $140 million. Nice. And while they say it has made things safer, they refuse to actually track numbers where it has helped (if that number is bigger than zero).witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
CanuckInUSA 0 #6 January 23, 2011 If you are referring to the Liberal's Gun Registry it has ballooned to over two billion dollars from it's original 2 million dollar estimate and it does absolutely nothing towards stopping gun crimes. It does however provide loyal Liberal supporters unionized civil servant jobs in the government bureaucracy and really is nothing more than a shopping list for gun grabbers. Oh and gun grabbers are more than just the government and the police. The registry has been breached by hackers on more than one occasion. Once again you can thank the "Liberal Party of Canada" for treating law abiding firearms owners like criminals while the Liberals ignore the real criminals. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
