Because of all the dumbasses who really believe they will get a little trickle down the leg of some of the rich guys on wall street... and the wall street guys laugh at them as they fool them over and over and over the wall street guys know they are safe. You are not getting any outrage from all the hopefulls waiting for their littlegift from above.

It isn't just financial crimes you can get away with as a member of the financial elite;
You can also get away with hit and run, even if your victim is a doctor:

We live in a post literate age where we believe whatever the pundits tell us, and neither the government (which bought or guaranteed most of the mortgages underwritten on fraudulent data and believes the banks owning a few of them are too big to fail even though they'd be insolvent when held to strict accounting standards) nor corporate media (which has government granted monopolies on the airwaves and their own portfolios and agendas) have told us to be upset.

If we were outraged, in practice our first past the post electoral system means that at best we could vote for a Democrat or Republican who isn't of the party currently holding the seat but is part of the same problem (Bush 41, Clinton, and Bush 43 encouraged the mess and Obama has yet to address it) .

As long as we have places to live and creature comforts it doesn't matter much in practice.

98% of us have color television, so it's not even bad for the "poor".

If we get to the point where people are starving, there will be plenty of outrage which will get directed at whoever they tell us is most deserving (with the banks buying the elections and commercials).

why spend millions on court cases when the liberal court system will just drop the case or find them not guilty because the evidence will never be heard in court.

As someone who's been in the business for almost 30 years, I can tell you that Conservative judges way, way, WAY outnumber liberal ones. You really think that if/when exploitative, corporate rapists get a pass in court it's because of liberalism?
I realize it doesn't take much ingenuity to get in a cheap (and ignorant) bash that uses the word "liberal", but couldn't you at least fake it a bit?

since this thread seems to miss it, it's because they did not commit crimes en masse. It's not a crime to be incompetent, or take a risk and lose, or for that matter, to game the system to your own advantage.

As for the article, a steaming pile with a clear audience in mind, one that might ignore the lack of any actual specifics. Pretty much unreadable as well.

I have been in the court system on both sides and I can tell you that I am completely unimpressed. but the actual things I hear about that really make me sick is when I here of things like the overturning of the vote of the people (like prop whatever in cal), the case in arizona on the imigration law, and the judges that found in favor of Obama care to name a few.
These are cases that involved liberal leaning judges making decisions that many would say is not correct along the lines of constitutional law. the big profile cases are the ones that really bother me because they set the standard for all the lower courts decisions.

Lets not forget Congress, and several Presidents demanded, and strong armed financial institutions into providing affordable housing (mortgages) to those who could not afford to pay. So jail time should be shared by all that were involved.

A bigger issue is Social Security, which I think could be a massive problem in 15 -20 years.

They aren't in jail because, for the most part, what they did was legal. The SEC has not provided the protection for the general public that it should, just as the MMS did not act as a public safety watchdog over the BP oil-drilling fiasco.
There's no outrage because most people don't read Rolling Stone or Vanity Fair. They get their news from TV pundits who don't understand and can't explain complex issues.

So many here jerking off and cumming all over one another . . .

I see now what she was talking about.

I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama
