What does this say about your "God"?

Recommended Posts

So you're saying that science has produced a tool that can look into the future and prove that the way things are today will continue to be that way in the future? As far as I know, nobody out there can guarantee that water will boil at 212 F tomorrow or in 100 years. It's faith that lets us believe that our measurements like that will continue to be reliable. If it's not faith (one definition being confidence or trust in a person or thing), then what is it?

that is about the lamest, self-serving definition of faith I have ever read......'guarantees of water boiling' come from faith? wow - try the dictionary instead how 'bout?

Quote

noun
1 complete trust or confidence in someone or something : this restores one's faith in politicians.
2 strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.
• a system of religious belief : the Christian faith.
• a strongly held belief or theory : the faith that life will expand until it fills the universe.
PHRASES
break (or keep) faith be disloyal (or loyal) : an attempt to make us break faith with our customers.
ORIGIN Middle English : from Old French feid, from Latin fides.

it don't mention science anywhere in there I am afraid.....

How people interpret and apply God to their lives is a different topic.

Is this how you apply God in your life? by sending pm's like the one below to people you dislike. Was I suppose to feel threatened? does this make you feel like a tough guy? SOME of you Christians crack me up.

Drop The World Lyrics

[Lil Wayne]
I got ice in my veins
blood in my eye
hate in my heart
love in my mind
I seen nights full of pain
days of the same
you keep the sunshine
save me the rain
I search but never find
hurt but never cry
i work and forever try
but im cursed so never mine
and its worse but better times
seems further and beyond
the top gets higher the more that I climb
the spot gets smaller and I get bigger
trying to get in where I fit in
no room for a n-gga but soon for a n-gga it be on mutherf-cker cause
all this bullsh-t have made me strong, mutherf-cker

[Chorus]
So I pick the world up and im a drop it on your f-ckin head
yeah, bitch ima pick the World up and I’ma drop it on your f-ckin head
yeah, and I can die no rebirth now mutherf-cker
hop up in my spaceship and leave earth motherfucker
I’m gone, mutherf-cker, I’m gone

[Lil Wayne Verse 2]
I know what they dont wanna tell you
just hope your heaven sent and ya hell proof
i’ll wake up in the World and cut the lights off
and confidence is a stain they cant wipe off
uh, my word is my pride
but wisdom is bleak and thats word from the wise
served to survive, murder and bribe
and when it got too heavy i put my burden aside..

[Chorus]

[Eminem]
it hurts but never show
http://www.elyricsworld.com/drop_the_world_lyrics_lil_wayne.html
its pain youll never know
if only you can see just how lonely and how cold
and frostbit i’ve become
my back’s against the wall
when push come to shove
i just stand up and scream f-ck em all
man it feels like these walls are closing in, this roof is caving in,
oop its time to raise it then
your days are numbered like pages and my vocal rhymes got em cookem boy
this crooked mind of mine got em all shook and scared to look in my eyes,
I stole that f-ckin clock, i took the time and i came up from behind
and pretty much snuck up and butt f-cked this game up
better be careful when you bring my name up f-ck this fame
that aint what i came to claim, but the game aint gonna be the same
on the day that i leave it
I swear one way or another im gonna make these f-ckin haters believe it ,
I swear to God, (?) im a man of my word
so your f-ckin heads better nod
im gonna f-ck around in this bitch and roast everybody
sleep on me that pillar is where yo head will lie permanetly bitch its betty bye(?)
this world is my easter egg getting prepared to die

my head is swoll
my confidence is up
this stage is my pedastal
im unstoppable the incredible hulk
your trapped in my medicine ball
I can run circles around you so fast your f-ckin head will spin dog,
Ill split your cabbage and your lettuce and i’ll f-ckin….

Is this how you apply God in your life?

I've been waiting for that...you're so predictable. What took you so long?

The fact is that is me not applying God in my life.

That's what happens when a zealous Christian backslides to the point of questioning his own personal faith and commitment.

I'm essentially seperated from God and fill that hellish void with alcohol, gambling, women and anything else I can grab onto to ease the pain. It's similar to any broken relationship.

I'm basically experiencing a taste of hell and that void is the worst thing I've ever experienced. I can only describe it as that feeling you get it the pit of your stomach when you are missing a child or you see your precious wife banging some dude raw and multiplying that by 1000.

I now have a better understanding of the following:

2 Peter 2:18-22
For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.” If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”

Now, wether I am the one who has turned his back completely or am the one escaping from error remains to be seen.

I have faith that God will carry me through this...

Was I suppose to feel threatened?

No, it expressed how I felt when you attacked the classyness of several posters after you posted a picture of Jesus having anal intercourse with himself.

If you want to continue playing the "who is the bigger hypocrite" game, fine...I really don't care.

I know my apology won't mean anything to you, but sorry for disturbing you. I know I can be a prick and get under people's skin.

As you once said, "I think these forums tend to bring out the worse in us, my self included."

yes-yes, you can! :P

Yes, It's fascinating to see how easily I can acknowledge my folly, yet you are so oblivious to your own.

It's always been a hobby of mine to see so many people like you and Chris pointing out every flaw in a christian's life and accusing them of falling short of christian principles not realizing that everytime you you do that, you are validating christian virtue.

You obviously recognize the principles as virtuous and condemn christians for not walking the walk but don't realize that you yourselves don't even live up to those impossible expectations.

So many non-belivers view chriastianity as moralistic which it is not. I can't really blame them though - most believers in the world adopt a legalistic view of christianity. It's like everyone is so oblivious to the dangers of moralism and legalism found in scripture.

This however is not to say that I advocate Licentiousness...

and here you go again, i make a snide remark in jest.. and you ramble. really, why do you even bother!?

i'm not the one here claiming i was "christian" and "jesus is my saviour" and what not. you are. if you cant live up to your hero or values.. well, i cant take you serious, really, i cant. even with the best intentions.

i believe in skydiving. i try my best to get out to the dz whenever weather, money or time allows. does that make me a "skydiver"? maybe. but at least i try to be skydiving..

you fail in your claims. and get all old and grumpy if it's pointed out to you. and you have a tendency to become really, really mean.. not nice.

(how's that for snide remarks that get under your skin?)

Was I not up all night worried sick about you, someone I barely knew...someone who only mocked and berated my friends?

and let's leave personal stuff out of the discussion for once. otherwise i'll turn up at my local church tomorrow morning as i promised, drunk like a sailor in a whorehouse, completely in the nude. and i'll tell everyone that it was coreece from the interwebz that made me do it! :P

if they dont buy that, i'll claim i was SURE it was nudist church today! :D:D:D

I know you meant it in jest...It was just bad timming. I've been planning this for awhile but didn't expect you to show up. You had to butt in so I took the opportunity to make my point.

You have to remember that I'm 50 moves ahead of you...;)(just a plug for new movie...;))

This has all the appeal of a treatise on sobriety and responsibility as recommended by Charlie Sheen. I'll pass.

How people interpret and apply God to their lives is a different topic.

I'm sorry if that was your experience.

It would be great if everyone had their own interpretation but much of the Christian church faith is based upon how someone ELSE interprets and applies God to their lives.

That's why they call them "preachers".

And most churches preach that there is only ONE interpretation (usually theirs), and if you wander outside of that, you are probably damned to hell.

Can't decide which version is correct so you are all on the same page? Or better yet, everyone has there own interpretation, so everyone is then damned to hell since God says there is only one GOD, and any others are false. (Exodus, Daniel, Matthew and Deuteronomy)

paradoxical at the very least and hypocritical at the worst.

Glad it works in your life - keep it the fuck away from my life. And my government.
