QuoteQuoteDo you really think infinity and zero fall in the realm of mythology?
Do you think they don't?
Don't even think about it.
No, they (zero and infinity) ABSOLUTELY do -NOT- fall into mythology, they are PRECISE values in science and mathematics.

QuoteQuoteAt exactly what point do you think you managed to get the upper hand in the conversation?
Probably the part where I noted that the professor's auto erotic ego stimulation was of little import.
YOU make an error and somehow I'm at fault. Fascinating.
Your original statement was just plain wrong, and that's all there is to it despite your weaseling around and insulting me.

QuoteWhy is it important to you to "actually nail down" anyone?
Because rational discussion is otherwise impossible.
QuoteI dunno. Sounds like a character flaw to me.
Because of course you've never felt a desire for someone to say what they mean and stick to it. Yeah, right.
I know you're only bothered about what allows you to get your petty little digs in, but damn do you ever miss the point because of it.

Oh...really?
Just what ARE those values?

Quotebut damn do you ever miss the point because of it.
Hmmmmmm....How can one miss a point when one is making a point?
And you think one can only have a rational discussion if one makes a solid statement and sticks to it?
Have you never had a discussion with a woman?
Oh wait...bad example.
I'll fall back on the typical excuses:
1. The devil made me do it. (the religion tie-in)
2. I had a hangover and haven't had my coffee yet. (the science tie-in)
3. I didn't get laid last night.
4. Disregard the wad of $1 bills. I did NOT dance naked on the stage with the girls at the strip club last night.
5. Fine. I'll sleep on the couch.

Why, of course, Jakee!
I just don't recall ever being so adamant to the point of getting upset about it.
Even Kallend gets a tweak on it now and then.

Fine then...If I don't wanna be called out on my errors then I should be more careful not to make any. Likewise, if you don't want to be called out for acting like a condescending tit, then you should be more careful not to.

QuoteI am more concerned with the proper handling of scripture than getting heat from posting some vague incomplete scientific inference that offends people.
problem is that YOUR version of the proper handling of scripture is far different that everyone else's.
Death to homosexuals is one good instance.
The scripture is taken literally by many, interpreted by many, ignored by many, and exaggerated by many.
Once again, your version is one of many, so it demonstrates CLEAR inconsistency within the same realm of religion.
Science has lots of interpretation as well, but mostly it has FACTS. 2+2 is actually 4, no one disagrees with that, and if that changes, then science will change to meet that new standard.
But 2+2 does actually equal 4. We know hat forces act on mass. We know a lot about thermodynamics, and we know a huge about about the molecule and the atom, even though we cannot see them. No one disputes those claims, we simply build on them.
And none of it is based on a 'proper handling of science', it is based on the facts.
The proper handling of scripture is an opinion. You are welcome to have your own opinion. You are not welcome to have your own facts.
Now how many young boys has the Catholic Church molested today?

Can't be seen with the naked eye, but they can be seen.
Just as we can only see a small fraction of celestial bodies with the naked eye, but can see far more with the right tools; our visual acuity does not allow us to see atoms - but with the right tools . . .

Not bagging on you, just an observation about people's use of the word in general.
Good point, but I do consider humility a worthy ambition.

QuoteWhy, of course, Jakee!
I just don't recall ever being so adamant to the point of getting upset about it.
What makes you say I'm upset?
Flip it over, and you seem to be upset enough about the conversation to get the insults out and I wasn't even talking to you. How does that figure with your character flaws?
jakee 1,489
QuoteHmmmmmm....How can one miss a point when one is making a point?
When the point you're making is predicated on an erroneous interpretation of a previous message and is therefore invalid.
Is humble a word that anybody can truthfully use to describe themselves?
Not bagging on you, just an observation about people's use of the word in general.
