QuoteIf your derogatory comments are directed at me personally instead of at the topic of conversation, then you are attacking me and not the idea.
I could care lessQuote
And I am observing that you have shown a distinct inability to tell the difference. I have yet to call you names, but have no qualms about calling you when you spout gibberish (you might actually know better, but I have no reason to think so).what you think of me or how smart I am (or not). Just curious about the double standard that seems to exist in here.Quote
If that were to be coherent, it would read "I could NOT care less..."
Although, i sure wish I could be a member of the intellectual elite like you. You must be so proud of yourself.
Whether or not I have anything about which to be proud, I am impressed that you do not appear to be aware enough to be embarrassed.
I suppose ignorance is bliss.

I had a counselor who worked for me commit suicide when it was revealed in his NA group that he made commercial videos of that genre.
Why was it "revealed" in his NA group? Was it something he shared, or was it some sort of NA member gossip?
Another member of his group outed him. He was devastated.
I don't know for certain but it was rumored that he was ashamed of porno career. I don't think he was too concerned about being gay.
I can see why you would hope that, given that you and those like you had stigmatized him. It's just your guilty conscience that you're hearing.
Jaybird, Coreece, this is meant for you also.

Given that a blind eye has been turned to insults by Winsor that would have gotten most other people warned if not banned, I can understand his anger.
Your condescension and dismissal of it only serves to aggravate the situation and confirm the bias.
I love you, Shannon and Jim.

I think it would be a lot easier to follow the rules in here if the moderators enforced the rules evenly across the board. I don't care if you ban me...but there are a few others in here who, by the same standard, should be banned. Enough is enough.

Gee whillikers, you are the sensitive one! Suggesting you aren't the sharpest tool in the shed hits a nerve?
Your admission that your tendency is/was to resort to violence when words fail you - and that words tend to fail you - is more damning than any of the criticism you perceive yourself to have been subject.
Your own self-characterization is much more base than anything directed at you by anyone else.
Poor little fella.

I did not know anything about his problems. I was the program manager and did not interact with him very much. My clinical director, who was also gay, knew what he was going through. After the funeral, it was the clinical director who informed me of the pain and suffering his counselor was feeling as a result of the NA expose'.
In the field of secular social services the only behavior that results in being stigmatized is the failure to do your paperwork.

I won't. It was here in SC.

Damn "Straight"!

Seriously, though...If there is an example of "turning the other cheek" I've seen it in my gay friends who are still christian. To go through so much bullshit because of all the religious idiots out there (and on here) and still have the ability to tolerate them...well I couldn't do it.

I'm interested to know how you and your church reconcile the anti-homosexual Scriptures found in the New Testament.
This is not a trick. I will not try to back you into a corner. I have never had the opportunity to ask someone who maintains both lifestyles actively.

I'm not gay, but I was a very active member of a very liberal UCC congregation for a long time. The church ended up closing due to the very heterosexual problems that the minister had , and I haven't found one that had the right attitude of outward-looking and good-doing (we attempted to give away as much of our gross income as possible to good works).
Anyway, the anti-homosexual tracts in the Bible are considerably less straightforward than the ones saying that women should not lead and should be subservient to their husbands, as well as grow their hair long and cover it.
We focused more on tracts like Matthew 22, Jesus said:
QuoteJesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
I'm personally fond of 1 Corinthains 13:13 as well.

Maybe if you cited them it would help. Which ones are you talking about?

That's pretty sad. I thought that NA was supposed to help people deal with shame and such. But I guess some things are outside the scope of a non-professional support group.
