Many employers already improve the quality of their employees healthcare by offering health insurance at a great expense.

Yes, and if that 'employer' was the USA government, we could provide it for everyone in the country, at 'great expense' but certainly less per capita that we are spending today,

So you are in favor of the benefits of better health care for your employees, but only when the costs are spread around and borne by all, and not equally I may add.

I am all for your right as business owner to run your business as you see fit. I would assume that most of the employment at ZHills is setup so that instructors and most staff are independent contractors receiving 1099's.

I just think you would be on more solid ground with your position if you were already footing some of the bill.

I don't think DZ model can afford insurance for their contractors - silly to think so. Just as silly as thinking that forcing everyone to buy Gov mandated insurance is 'more cost effective per capita' vs allowing individuals to find their own - also nonsense

I think a DZO could do a little, though. Build a workout room with posters about healthy eating. And be an example for that - or even require a certain level of health as a precondition to employment.

that would be above and beyond the call, but at least that's something tangible.

it's my only option - I canot provide 'universal healthcare' for myself, even if I wanted to.

this is silly - then if someone else pays for you, then at least it really is less. not 'per capita', but certainly "per TK"

money's gotta come from somewhere - it's not free

I agree, I don't think they can, at least not fully.

That being said if you have such strong convictions on something you can find a way support it to some degree, as you pointed out.

Lets face it, most dropzones don't even provide their "contractors" workers compensation insurance. Many walk a real fine line when they classify their staff as contractors in the first place.

Getting back to the user fees.

Who currently pays the majority of the fuel taxes that fund the FAA?

Many AOPA members are no where near able to own their own aircraft. It is the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assoc. My wife and I drive old vehicles so that we can afford to fly a little each month. One car payment plus the increased insurance cost (liability only on our old vehicles) is enough to alow me to fly a few hours a month. I would wager that you make more than I do. I understand the publics view of pilots as rich, but I as do many fall into the middle to lower middle class of income. I do consider myself rich, just not in a monetary way.

I have a pilots license.

Ooooh - I'm impressed.

The point is that he discounts the NRA, yet wants to claim the AOPA is a good source.

... according to the majority of Americans... He is "rich".

So I am merely pointing out his hypocrisy of:
NRA = Bad source
AOPA = Good source

And

The "rich" should pay taxes... Just not this one since it will affect me.

In fact I would probably pay less overall under this proposal. I still oppose it because it is a bad proposal.

Attempting to couple it with the NRA is incredibly stupid. It stands or falls on its own merits, as do NRA proposals.

He does not even provide it for his office staff.

Instead of engaging in your usual "bash the liberals" invective, why don't you tell us all what you think of the merits of this proposal.

Of course, that will require some thought on your part.

I have to assume it's the airlines who pay the majority of the fuel taxes. It would also seem that they use the majority of the ATC services.

James

Class A, B and C airspace was implemented for the benefit of the airlines. GA aircraft are obliged to use ATC services in these areas but are not the primary beneficiaries. Most GA activity in Class D would continue just fine without ATC services too.

Wow, this is the best you can do.... He tried to explain who the AOPA is to me.... I was a member. Then he tried to explain how some people afford to fly.

Saying I have a license is showing I know about it, and the best you can do is act like this?

Lame.... bu I am beginning to expect it from you as opposed to mature debate.

Ah, see.... AOPA = Good. NRA = Stupid.

You just proved my point about your inability to actually use data and instead just stick with your bias.
