Silly people. With our current system in place (financial elite running a corporatocracy w/politicians in pocket), you are fucked regardless of who is in office. How many more decades of this shit will it take for people to get it?
Well, considering the length of time it has already been going on, I'd say.....tens, if not hundreds, of decades.
My reality and yours are quite different.

QuoteThe 47% pays no tax--they didn't pay their damned admission price to the debate...
...you don't pay into the system, you don't deserve a voice into how it is operated.
I'm not sure which "debate" you're talking about, but whether it's people carrying around signs in a tent city, people posting photos of themselves holding up printed out letters, pundits going back and forth on TV, or heated arguments on the internet it doesn't really matter who does or doesn't shut the fuck up. Deciding on an "admission price" of $1 or any other arbitrary value is pretty silly.
People vote selfishly and often without a lot of long term thinking involved. The whole point of representative government is to temper that. I'll give you that an enormous group of people with no federal income tax liability garnering a large political sway as to where federal tax dollars get spent is not a great scenario, but I don't think it's something we're teetering on the edge of simply because your number above is close to 50.
As for who does wield that large political sway and what that means in terms of financial responsibility, I'll just say that I think all the congressional appropriations committees need to have their membership reviewed for conflicts of interest, and the interests of the nation as a whole need to stop taking a back seat.

Uh - That's what I was saying.
So when you wrote:
"I'd suggest to them that perhaps we should all pay some taxes" (which you have TWICE snipped from your replies)
it was a totally redundant troll because you knew that they already were.
Yes, John. Which is why I stated it when I was called on it. You know that when I fuck up I wear it. I wore it. I'm still wearing it.
You made your point earlier. Then again. And again yet. Making it again won't make the point any more valid. And I'll wear it again and again.
Don't sweat it, Jerry - he's got no room to talk with his incessant trolling of sales/gas/etc taxes when the discussion is about income tax.

Irrelevant, since it wasn't mentioned at all until YOU brought it up in post #38, this thread.
You're losing your grip on reality, it seems.
