Ya think? Karasik gets today's "Captain Obvioius" award.
No wonder I couldn't find them things in at Best Buy. Jeez.

which implies a us/israel assassination...

You finally got something right.........:D:D:D

which implies the war has already begun...

Where have you been, Sherlock? I acceded/posted that headline weeks ago. Since I'm not an official spokesperson for either government, you'll have to wait for the formal Declaration. Probably not too far off in the future. My advice to Iranians still holds. Head north or east. Get behind a mountain range, and dig in.

EDIT: In answer to an EM. The deeper the cave, the better.

I say that the Chinese will be right there waiting to jump on any part of Iran they can get their hands on. You misjudge the Chinese. Research Chinese Politburo, and educate yourself.
As far as oil..... Let the US worry about it's reserves. If need be, I have zero doubt that the US would mop the floor with Hugo Chavez if oil became reaaaaaaallllyyyyy scarce.
Have you ever actually looked at a map in a strategic/tactical manner? The answers are right in front of your nose.

Whatever that is supposed to mean...:S

China gets a great deal of it's oil from Iran. They would have to choose between maintaining their current relationship with Iran by opposing the US or stepping back and letting the US "liberate Iran for them and thus gaining a greater foothold.

GAWD ALMIGHTY..!! That's twice in one day you have been correct. The Chinese will side up with what is in their best interests.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

If you think that it will be with Iran, then I wish you the very best in what must be a very puzzling life.

It is unlikely that the Chinese will fight the US over Iran. Trading oil for weapons on the other hand...

Very unlikely....... That's what DD is missing. The Chinese would indeed, under the table and back door to back door sell weapons to anyone. But the Chinese would not in their right minds jeopardize their cash flow from the US for the Iranians.
What would the Chinese do if the US simply said..... We ain't paying you guys. Attack the US? Not in this universe.

You have to remember that the bonds China has purchased do not have their name on them. The US cannot default on some bonds without defaulting on all of them. Otherwise the Ohio Teachers' pension fund would find that some of their bonds are the ones that the treasury has decided not to honour.
This is simply not a credible threat.
