In my sick 'n twisted mind, this actually might have a positive law enforcement impact.

Imagine if you will, Johnny Scumbucket notices you have a fairly good arsenal and decides to liberate you of your weapons to augment his criminal enterprise. He comes for a snatch-and-grab and is met by the lawful owner/resident pointing the business end of one of his toys.

Lawful owner keeps stuff.
Cops/Court exempted from having to chat with Johnny Scumbucket ever again.

Could be a win/win?

You raise a good point! Maybe you don't much care for guns but you seem to have an open mind about them.
I'm curious... Johnny Scumbucket is 'held at gunpoint' till the cops get there. Could the gun owner be charged with 'un-lawful restraint'?

If Johnny Scumbucket breaks into the house? I doubt it.

The reason I asked that question is because I've read of it happening. Not very often but in other states. Ihaven't heard of it here in Texas. Recently, a home owner held a guy who had broken into his home at gun-point till cops arrived and hauled him off. So far, I haven't heard of any charges against the home owner.

If it does happen, I think it would be a deterrent. Unless you are B&Eing for guns, specifically, who's going to knowingly target a gun-toting-gunna-protect-mine-and what's mine?

http://www.usacarry.com/forums/general-firearm-discussion/10147-no-guns-next-door-sign.html

I don't think this info should be made public, but if it is, this is a silver-lining example, however tongue-in-cheek it may be.

Unfortunately, you can't be home 100% of the time. Most guns used by criminals are stolen from legal gun owners..... Telling the criminals who has guns is like handing them a shopping list... Bad idea.

I'll agree to legislation like that as soon as the government releases the name of EVERY Occupy protestor involved in the movement so we can go tear up their lawns and leave trash in their yards for them to clean up :P

Kall... apply your MYTH to the criminal skydiver that steals gear when the owner is not looking.... Tell me/us/YOURSELF that this has not happened!

Being charitable, I can only assume that you didn't read what was written before hitting "post reply".

Well, it's a report from PBS, which has a known anti-gun slant.
It's quoting an ATF agent. And the ATF has been proven to "massage" the facts to attack gun owners and their rights.

appreciate the charity but not needed over COMMON F'N SENSE... i didn't read it before, i didn't read after your charity and i probaly won't read it all. Unlike some people that are eXtreme in their stances, i'm a middle road type but HEAVILY leans towards the truth, the just and plain ole practicality, logical thought. I listen and read from both sides all the time. There's a reason why there are more conservative radio hosts versus liberals out there! And it's not money. Not sayin Kal that you don't have any of the above cuz i'm not the pa type. Facts get presented stretched, torqued etc by ALL SIDES of the aisle. My conscience told me in Nov of 08 that neither Obama or McCain was good for OUR nation! I'm at least fifty percent right with not voting for the current potus. Will never know about the other POLitician... IT'S not lookin good for me to cast a vote this time around either :( Anyway, you and others likeminded will never understand me and my like minded brethern. Doesn't mean i wouldn't let...

...repack my reserve if needed, it just means that if you and i are standing at a starbucks getting a coffee and a thug comes in to steal and possibly kill you and or others, that i wouldn't have to think about saving your lives with my carry that he may have even knew about because the lisa mad dog madigan gave out the info that i was a gun owner. Silence is golden yes! But then i guess that only depends on whom it benefits. or doesn't. I'm rambling and beleive it or not i don't like to ramble on serious topics so i'm out. You know our stance and we know yours. I'm movin on brother! peace love and forever blue ones! :)

would love to see the resource where you got that statistic, that most guns used in crimes are stolen from legal owners.
