Santorum on birth control

So you would have no problem with "god" giving Joe Smith golden tablets by a courier named Moroni?

My problem there is that they call it Christianity. God, in Christianity had already adopted advanced technology and began a more practical communication by paper and through the form of man...Who are we judge how God conducts business and complain about the overhead and efficiency of office supplies?

Tho, It does seem your problems have more to do with Judaism and the Mormons.

"pro-life" but supports the death penalty?

Makes more sense than supporting killing unborn children and allowing people convicted of murder to remain alive.

There are times when killing is justified.... To protect an innocent is one. To punish someone is debatable. But failure to use birth control should not be one.

Were it only so black and white.

Actually, Thou shalt not murder is the literal translation

Makes a big difference

Did a word exist in ancient Hebrew for kill, separate from the word for murder? Do you have a reference?

Yes, at least that's what some of the ancient Hebrew experts think:

http://people.ucalgary.ca/~elsegal/Shokel/001102_ThouShaltNotMurder.html

This came up in conversation with a friend over here who really is a Hebrew language expert and she gave me a similar explanation.

You don't even need to be an expert. First semester Hebrew students learn what rasah means.

No they don't. At least not the true and real meaning. You have to live here and speak it for a while to get it I think. The meaning has more than the english language translation. Interestingly though the jews and hebrew scholars do agree that abortion is prohibited by the commandment (it's considered ratsah). Some (most) words don't translate perfectly and this is one of them.

They also do abortions here in Israel routinely and nobody shoots or blows anything up over it. They have far more important things to worry about, you guys should too.

I learned it in first semester Hebrew. Of course with limited amount of Hebrew practice I was and am dependent on looking up words for scholarly discussion. That would not be so different even if my mastery was greater, as what a word means today is not necessarily what it meant in Biblical times (and sometimes word meanings shifted significantly even within that period).

We learned to conjugate using katal, not ratash

“ If family planning is anything, it is a public health matter.” Rep. George H.W. Bush, 1970

Title X, the law he sponsored that still funds family planning for the poor, passed the House by a vote of 298 to 32. It passed the Senate unanimously. The President, Richard Nixon, enthusiastically signed it.

Republicans disrespect their own history in their hysterical, shrill opposition to anything Obama.

So now you assume that all republicans agreed when that was done back then?

Silly boy

Republicans think for themselves, unlike the democratic sheep do supporting Obama

The simplest explanation, and the one most likely correct, is HYPOCRISY.

Why don't you go back to sleep if you have nothing worthwhile to add.
