People need to stop blaming the victim

It seems that TM was to blame. I do not think TM is the victim. I realize my opinion is not shared by all.
People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

One of the few INDISPUTABLE FACTS we have in this case is that TM is dead.

In an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity televised Wednesday, George Zimmerman said he felt the course of the night 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was killed "was all God's plan."

Evidently unknown to everyone else, Zimmerman was following God's plan the night he shot and killed TM. That's smart, not only does he try and appeal to Florida's obsession with guns, he tries to appeal to their obsession with God. I guess we'll all have to wait and see what God's plan is for the upcoming juries verdict.

God is always keeping us on the edge of our seat.

I didn't say he wasn't "allowed".

Your exact words:
"Wonder why dad didn't take him to dinner? Punishment?

If he wasn't allowed to dinner, why was he out unknowingly all night long? "

Questioning one's behavior is not blaming the victim either.

You're trying to imply that Martin is somehow at fault for being killed while returning from the store unarmed and minding his own business. That's blaming the victim.

I think he is at fault. He was violent and attempting to kill despite not having a weapon. He did not mind his own business. I do not think he is the victim.

That's not the impression I get from what has been published in the media about the incident. However, I recognize that the accounts in the media are unlikely to give an accurate reflection of what happened.

given that any media accounts you saw were based on conjecture rather than the single witness (who could be lying, but is still the only person that was there)...

was that the media source that deliberately edited audio to misrepresent the defendant? Or print ridiculously outdated pictures of the teenager to make him look physically incapable of violence?

"The media told me" is a lame dodge, even this late into a 2000 post thread. Sundevil has his take on the available evidence, you have your's. "The media" has nothing to do with that difference except for the truly lazy.

He was NOT minding his own business if he turned and confronted Zimmerman

Reading through the various replies, it seems that some believe that it is not OK for an adult to question or scrutinize an adolescent and/or his behavior.

In my family you are under adult authority until the age of 18 and leave home. If you choose to stay home you remain under adult authority.

TM was an adolescent who attacked an adult.
Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

I totally agree with your observations and you frame, exactly, where many in this country want to take us.......

The government nanny system it what liberal want (and I think some of them need it for some reason)………

This progressive mind set of not being responsible is a bad path………

Why didn't TM just call the police and tell them some guy was following him?

Why didn't TM just run to where he was living and go inside and lock the door?

Perhaps we should ask him. Oh, wait …

I thought relying on the police for your protection was a poorly thought out stupid decision?

I am not sure of your point but, it can be

True. I won't be surprised if the Florida legislature revisits their Stand Your Ground law to make it less of a Right To Murder law.

The law will not change IMO. Besides, this law is not or should not be part of this defense

Self defense laws and stand your ground laws, while related, are not the same things
