Barring a dramatic turn in the available evidence, there's no way a jury can convict beyond reasonable doubt, so the trial is unnecessary and unfair to the defendant.

That, of course, is an opinion and not a fact, and not all of the evidence is available to us.

It's an opinion shared by Alan Dershowitz. And with the discovery process requiring release of evidence to the defense (meanwhile leaking anything damaging to Zimmerman it left and right to the press), it's unlikely something dramatically different will come along. The trial will confirm this, as well as that this should never have gone to trial. Zimmerman will be out 6 to 7 figures...or more accurately, those willing to donate will be. Money that could have been better spent on just about anything, be it children or hookers.

No
You said a court decides

Nope. I wrote that a JURY decides facts.

That's why a jury is called "decider of fact".

Example.

Now try to recall your civics classes.

Yep

And that jury, which is at the trial in court

will decide whether you are a racist kid kicker

That is the job of a jury.

Your arguments are just stupid.

Maybe Dershowitz can decide all cases, since you think he is omniscient on matters of guilt or innocence. That's the ticket - one "decider" would save us all a lot of money.

As are yours.

You should become more familiar with Florida law and court process on the charges Mr. Zimmerman has had levied. There's a very good chance this will not go to a jury.
Local legal talking heads are betting the case will be dismissed. SYG and a lack of evidence and/or witnesses to the incident. Neither of which require a jury anywhere near the court house.

let's face it, even if it goes to trial and he is found not guilty by a jury, you're going to say it was an abuse of justice, and he should have gone to jail anyways because TM is dead, no matter what....
If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead.

Do you acknowledge that he's one of the most well regarded on the subject of criminal prosecution? Harvard does. He didn't make value judgements on the crime, but rather on the process and how it was violated. This is where your Englishness comes into play- due process is a bit optional in your frame of reference.

I thought I saw something about the defense not pursuing SYG?

No, I'm not. I just don't think this pissing match will end until a jury gives a verdict.

SYG hearing requested

Just part of due process, legal heads are saying they expect this to be successful.
If not, then the laundry list of due process errors come into play unless trial gets scheduled first, then they become key in appeals processes.

Must be a real bitch to not be able to work and still need a half mill to defend yourself.

American legal system is THE best system money can buy. ;)

Of course, Zimmerman should be writing a book himself, or with the help of an established writer. He should absolutely get whatever he can out of the situation, Of course if you think he's a racist cold blooded murderer, then you won't agree.
People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

Even if he's found not guilty of this murder it's only a matter of time before he kills again.

If he is acquitted and set free, my money says he gets shot and killed by some thug yelling "thats for Trayvon Martin mutha fucka!" before he ever gets close to killing someone else.

Do you disagree? Surely you understand the level of hatred out there for this guy. Has there not been atleast one or two beatings "in the name of Trayvon"? What about the black panthers and their bounty? Feel free to explain why you believe he will be safe if he is set free.

I think he was agreeing with you. And I agree too. Even if he is found "not guilty" or the case is dismissed, he will probably never be "free" or safe again.

??? Are you serious?

If he gets away with his first murder he'll go for a second.

How did you come to this conclusion?

That's how serial killers operate.

Yeah, he's already up to "1". (Hey ...even Ted Bundy had to start somewhere.) :S

The next time his 'self defence' alibi will be even easier as everyone would expect him to be attacked. He'll be paranoid and well armed. He'll still have a thing about black guys. He'll have a sense of grievance about the time he's spent in prison but elation that he's finally got away with it. Just a little patience and he can make sure he gets himself into a situation where he can bait and murder again. He'll also almost certainly escalate to a double or triple murder just to show how 'outnumbered' he was.

Does that scenario play over in your head often? Does the visualization seem to be getting more and more realistic? Do you know where I live?
