I'm not an attorney and there is no such thing as an unbiased source-but was this really inappropriate of the judge? It seemed impolite, but judges get like that in their courtrooms sometimes,

I don't know Florida law as well as others, but I can't imagine this is acceptable behavior for a judge.

I don't know Florida law as well as others, but I can't imagine this is acceptable behavior for a judge.

Is she helpfully giving him grounds for an appeal, (depending on the verdict)?

I doubt it. Seem more likely to me that she is one of those jurist who believe judge is spelled G-O-D in the courtroom.

What concerns me more is that she is now considering the prosecutor's motion to allowi the jury to consider lesser charges that were not included when the trial started. They tried him for second degree murder, but now that they know they're not going to hit that mark, they want to change the game. They want to offer lesser alternatives to the jury in the hope that they will compromise and find lesser guilt where the prosecution failed to meet its burden.

Who said they were arguing for anything? Did you read any of the articles? They said an agency of the DOJ set up in the 1960s to mediate between parties in racially tense situations spent a few thousand dollars helping out in a racially tense situation. The articles didn't say anything like what the headlines would lead you to believe, which is par for the course at those types of sites.
