kallend 2,027 #51 April 27, 2012 The military budget of the United States during FY 2011 was approximately $740 billion in expenses for the Department of Defense (DoD), $141 billion for veteran expenses, and $48 billion in expenses for the Department of Homeland Security, for a total of $929 billion. Lots of savings to be had there and we'd STILL have the world's largest military. And let's not forget that prior to 2010 the costs of Bush's wars didn't show up because they were "supplemental appropriations". Then we have Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid expenditures which are funded by permanent appropriations regardless of who is in the White House.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

It was more a reference to his June 2009 data point. We have an extra TRILLION dollar drag on the economy, with nothing to show for it. "Turns out those shovel ready projects weren’t as shovel ready as we expected heh, heh, heh." No wonder the economy is stagnating. It is hard to plan for the future when Obama has already mortgaged it. The HOUSE approves budgets. Interesting, don't you think, that federal spending is higher under the GOP controlled House than it was when Pelosi was speaker? I am not a Republican. I am a libertarian independent. I think the GOP are even bigger douche bags than the Dems, because of their hypocrisy. I expect the Dems to spend like drunken sailors, but when Republicans wrap themselves in the mantle of fiscal responsibility while spending like Democrats, it is beyond the pale.
