I am your elder and whether you like it or not, I have more experience in life and know more than you do.

You are just spitting into the wind son.

You sound very insecure here, but in general you seem to have the need to reaffirm yourself. On the internet of all places. Other than that: your claim you're wiser than someone because you're older than him, just isn't very... wise.

And humble too!

Ron, being alive for a longer period of time doesn't make a person more "experienced in life." In and of itself, it only means you've gone around the Sun more times. It sure as hell doesn't mean a person knows more than somebody else either.

As to how much "experience" one person has over another, that's to be seen on a case by case basis. I know pleanty of people who've lived very long lives, but didn't really know shit about the world or life. It's like the old saying about having 40 years of experience or 1 year of experience 40 times.

Don't ever be too sure you're more "experienced" at anything than anyone else.

It would help your understanding if you chimed in at the beginning of an exchange instead of tagging a bullshit statement on at the end. The same to you Marinus.

Beowulf knew what I was talking about. We were having a rather meaningful discussion, between us.

Actually I read that part of the discussion. Beowulf was asking inconvenient questions about witchcraft as it appears in the bible, and you tried to dodge it with standard religious obfuscation techniques. The "I'm older so I'm wiser" seemed to me as a rather desperate attempt to claim dominance in the discussion.

The other observation I made that you seem to have a need to confirm yourself all the time. If you are so old and wise and confident of your achievements, why don't you just show it? But all I hear is "I'm old and wise, and successful and hyper-intelligent" without the posts you would expect to go with such claims.

His questions were not inconvenient. I was answering him. As for your second paragraph, well, you know....

yes f.e. witchcraft = rebellion.... A prime example of religious new-speak which is a form of obfuscation.

Finish your sentence please, that is, if you can.

Please go back and read my explanation to the Scriptural reference in 1 Samuel. That is an OT verse, definitely not new speak.

I am not willing to pursue your second request.

The onus is always on the few to perform to a standard that does not apply to the many. So it goes.

Those who have His grace are not hampered by the law.

Here's reference for you.

Galatians 5:
Walking in the Spirit

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Coreece, maybe you should search in your bible for a verse about humility. You're not so special, my friend.

I was once a full fledged believer and I had my own "spiritual" experiences as you call them so I know exactly what you're talking about. If anyone has a broader spectrum of insight, I've been on both sides of the fence and you have not. You don't know what it's like to see the religion for what it really is.

You seem a bit full of yourself claiming to have unique knowledge of spiritual phenomena as well as personal supernatural powers and a transcendent intellectual state. If this is true, maybe you should consider joining the clergy.

You will probably dismiss this and deny that I've shared similar experiences to you, but that just proves my point. You claim special insight into some deep understanding, but you're not backing it up with anything other than vague insinuation.

If you're only following the christian religion so you can feel superior to others and keep your evil desires in check I think you might want to evaluate your motivations. If god exists he will be very angry about your claims.

This is the second time you've replied "apparently not" when I said I used to be a christian like you. Are you suggesting it's not possible for a "true christian" to leave their religion?

The fact that you smugly dismiss every non-believer without offering any counter argument other than a bible verse makes you a know-it-all as well. At least I provide reasons for my assertions.

You've also condemned me to hell several times so I think that makes you the more judgmental one. ;)

I'm saying it's apparent that you don't know what I'm talking about...and that's ok. You don't have to pretend.

makes you a know-it-all as well.

funny...the old "I know you are but what am I" routine.

Not really, I just don't think you would like my opinion of how you interpret the scriptures.

There is the shift toward rebellion. You believe your opinion holds some power over me, that it will affect my values and my life. That is just adolescent thinking. I am your elder and whether you like it or not, I have more experience in life and know more than you do.

By that logic, a grandma who dated Henry Ford would be a better driver than Jeff Gordon. My money's on the kid.

You made me chuckle. Logic only makes complete sense to people who have studied logic. It is a secular humanistic concept, shared by mortal philosophers. Common folk communicate without it.

And, like quade you're coming in late on the message exchange. Beowulf and I were doing OK. He doesn't need the late arrival of a big brother.
