Not by a long shot. The best way to distort reality is simply to let uneducated perceptions allow themselves to control your actions. Ask any pilot who has ever done some instrument flying. If you allow your "feelings" to control your actions, you're doomed. But with education and trust in the science behind your instruments which can far more accurately tell you the truth of the situation, you can not only survive, but actually get somewhere.
