kelpdiver 2 #126 September 17, 2012 Quote If you're going to try to shame us into submission you could at least provide a little substance. Feminists have been whining for 100 years and you don't hear us telling them to "grow a pair." Why don't you grow a pair? They're not men, so I wouldn't suggest it. In any event, you and quade and a few others have the problem here, not me. I'm perfectly content with the current status of the battle of the sexes. deltron80 0 #127 September 18, 2012 Quote>what expectations are placed on men and what expectations are placed on women? Traditionally? The man supports the family and (generally) continues whatever he was doing before he was married i.e. working, skydiving etc. The woman gives up everything she was doing and takes care of kids, cleaning and cooking. Which role would you rather take on? I think we can at least agree that nowadays women are generally no longer expected to play that 'traditional' role you're talking about, but men are still expected to be a supporter/provider. Men unable or unwilling to perform this role are generally not viewed as marriageable. Strange double standard.

deltron80 0 #131 September 18, 2012 QuoteQuoteQuoteI'm sorry about your recent break-up. Haha, nope...dating is for suckers Is your apparent disgust for women based on some experience in your life? I absolutely do not have disgust for women. I have a problem with how our society teaches women to think, especially in relation to men. If anything I feel bad for women that they have to navigate this social climate where they are taught to have disgust for men. I realize these are massive generalizations. It doesn't apply to every single person. My opinions are partially based on personal experience and observations of others, but I didn't come up with this stuff. It's other peoples' ideas that I agree with. All I'm saying is both sexes should be treated equally. I don't really get why that's so controversial. You seem like you just want to reflexively maintain your privileged position. I gave up on dating because of simple cost/benefit analysis. It's a rigged game. I refuse to demean myself by groveling to women and buying them stuff. I've done it enough to know it's a waste of time and I'm not doing it anymore. Agreed, and it's not controversial. >You seem like you just want to reflexively maintain your privileged position. Which is as accurate as saying that you just want to strengthen the traditional male dominance in society. >I gave up on dating because of simple cost/benefit analysis. It's a rigged >game. And of course there's a difference in believing that everyone should be treated equal and knowing a solution to ensure that everyone is treated equal. There's a point where things like affirmative action end up causing reverse discrimination, though I don't think that is the intent.

Maybe it's about selection - stop picking gold diggers. I have to be trying to date someone in order to 'do something wrong.' I don't think Shah and I have much in common. It's not just about the blatant 'gold diggers.' It's about the inherent assumptions and expectations that most women have about how men need to act and what they need to achieve in life or provide to them in order to be considered a 'real man.' I feel no urge to be judged by a woman to validate myself. I'm perfectly fine on my own and have no need to expose myself to that arbitrary criticism. As you said above, you're perfectly happy with the current state of the 'battle of the sexes.' I don't doubt it! lol

And many men expect their S.O. to serve them - cook for them, clean for them, wash their clothes, raise their kids etc. Fortunately you can choose whether or not you want such a relationship. And fortunately I have found that most people of both sexes are NOT like that, at least among the people I know (skydivers, engineers, climbers etc)

lawrocket 3 #145 September 19, 2012 Okay. Let’s discuss the shit that women go through versus men. Note that this is 2012 and has happened over the last two days. My wife has a job. She gave birth 12 weeks ago. She is lactating. And this is something that needs to be managed so she can pump it and store it. Think it’s being made easy for her? It isn’t. The department manager unlocked the room she was in and walked in on her, then complained that he was embarrassed. Instructions to my wife – “Don’t let it happen again.” She was told to go to the women’s bathroom (which is itself illegal, by the way) to pump and a male inmate walked in on her. Now, tell me fellas, how easy women have it. I’m pissed as hell right now, and in light of this thread, I think that there are plenty of dudes out there with cranio-rectal syndrome about what women STILL have to go through. And the reasons why certain protections are needed and should be enforced. My wife is hotter than your wife.

That doesn't really disprove or negate a single thing I've written, but I'm sorry she had to endure that. The fact that you're playing white knight only proves my point.
