Gravitymaster 0 #26 September 28, 2012 I really don't care when they strike them. If they are voting illegally or not registered to vite, why does when they are struck from the roles important? Reminds me of the guy who gets a speeding ticket, goes to court and tell the Judge that others were going faster than him. Therefore the Officer should have pulled someone else over. If they are voting illegally or not registered to vite, why does when they are struck from the roles important? it matters because when (not IF) they fuck up and strike a legal citizen from the voter poll, that person just lost his right to vote, which you at least pay lip service to believing in. If he does not discover this until election night, he's not voting, unless its one of the 10 states with same day voter registration (something I'm not a fan of, personally). rushmc 23 #30 September 28, 2012 QuoteQuoteI also find it interesting that you do not want our voting process to be as free of fraud as possible How many times are we going to cover this subject and ignore reality? Mechanical vote counters have a huge error rate in comparison - over 1%. And these tend to be in the poor districts. If you really want our elections to be as fair and accurate as possible, then you should insist that these all be replaced with new, touch screen voting systems. And then if you really want to further eliminate fraud potential, you take the contract away from Diebold and replace it with an openly developed product that includes vote verification after election day. But going back to Florida - Bush won by .01% of the vote. We got the most accurate count we could get under the circumstances, but the reality of the potential error in counting means than the probability that he actually did win is still basically 50.01%. (And this ignores any issues around the butterfly ballot or voter purges...we're just talking about cast ballots) We are not talking about errors We are talking about fraud"America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." SkydiveJonathan 0 #31 September 28, 2012 About four hundred thousand voters (9 percent of Indiana’s electorate) are African American. Nearly one in five (18.1 percent) lack the ID needed to vote, according to Matt Barreto of the University of Washington. That’s twice the number of whites lacking ID. Therefore, as many as 72,000 black voters will get the boot when they show up to vote this November. Coincidentally, that’s three times Barack Obama’s victory margin in that state in 2008. Coincidentally.

SkydiveJonathan 0 #35 September 28, 2012 The average voter’s distance to the office is seventeen miles. By definition, the folks that need the ID don’t drive. And the ninety-eight-year-old is pretty darn slow in her walker. A lawyer for Indiana voters told me that the average bus trip back and forth, requiring two changes, takes an entire work day. They tested it. But Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia ruled that the law was fair and provided “equal protection” to all voters because “seventeen miles is seventeen miles for the rich and the poor.”

So it seems the ID is possible and it is free so I dont see a problem. SkydiveJonathan 0 #38 September 28, 2012 And who are the white folk lacking ID? The elderly, like the sisters, and students like Angela Hiss and Allyson Miller, whose official state IDs don’t list their dorm room addresses and so can’t be used to vote. Black folk, the elderly, students, poor whites blocked from registering and voting—a federal judge didn’t think it was all that coincidental. Justice Terence Evans could see a pattern: “The Indiana voter photo ID law is a not-too- thinly veiled attempt to discourage election-day turnout by certain folks believed to skew Democratic.”

You are using these to cover the rest with a wide brush. I also question the validity of some of whay you post here but, for the sake of this post I will give you that what you say here is true Second, it seems you think that whites in the same situation would somehow be affected differently. Southern_Man 0 #41 September 28, 2012 Don't know about the details of the Indiana voter ID law. Here in VA they instituted one and just the other day I got a new voter registration card in the mail, as did all registered voters with a valid address. There are also generous allowances for other ID as well, including not only a state issued one but also any utility bill as well as other options. I am very familiar with working with people who do not have ID or have a hard time getting ID. While I'm not a huge fan of these ID programs (which seem to be solving a problem that barely exists) I do not find the one here in VA to be objectionable."What if there were no hypothetical questions?" Back in the day, I lived in Taos, NM, just NE of Espanola. If ever there was a state that needed a purge of the voter registration it is NM. You can get away with almost anything in NM. I drove a pickup truck for several months with a tag I found in the Taos County dump. No one ever questioned it and it was on the truck when I sold it. The US Food and Drug administration is, among other thing, responsible for food safety and standards. The food standards allow for a tiny percentage of rodent shit and urine in processed food. The percentage of non-citizen voters found in Florida is far less that the percentage of shit and piss allowed in the food you and yours buy at the grocery store. Voter fraud bullshit by Rescumlicans and their sheeple followers is a solution searching for a non-existant problem. Why don't you dirtbags man up and admit that you are trying to supress the vote of people who are likely to vote Democratic?

SkydiveJonathan 0 #50 September 28, 2012 Mississippi now ranks worst in the nation with 31.8 percent of children living in poverty, and worst in the nation in child well being according to the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s 2012 Kids Count Data Book, a national and state-by-state effort to track the well-being of children. For every 100 families with children in poverty in the state, only ten now receive TANF cash assistance. In 2009-10, according to the CBPP, there were 117,327 families with children in poverty, and just 11,773 TANF cases. As for those parents who are being sanctioned off of welfare because they are unable to meet the work requirement or they reach lifetime limits: “They are now virtually invisible to the country and in the current political discourse,” says Burnett.
