>You honestly, and truly believe she doesn't know what wiping a hard drive is.

Most people don't. Even some engineers think wiping a hard drive involves deleting all the files on it.

You realize 'Engineer' covers Civil and Environmental types as well?

All engineers are not equal.

>So you admit that you think HC is stupid.

Yep. She's a bureaucrat first and foremost - and knowing jack shit about IT is pretty much par for the course.

She's a sleazy lawyer who plays a bureaucrat on tv. You give her too much credit.

In the Navy when at sea, we were required to demagnetize them, cut them into pieces in the machinist shop, then throw them overboard.
:D

Ya...the government takes this shit seriously.

We had similar practices when I was working for several major film studios in California. We also had to have security clearances, 2 visual checkpoints to enter the facility, two more card access checkpoints, and then thumbprint access. I was one of 3 people to have a key to the vault, and 2 of the 3 keys were needed to enter...2 people in vault at all times.

We also had frequent FBI inspections....

I thought it was a bit over the top, but then you hear about how previous employees are serving 15 years in federal prison for selling the pure uncut shit to India and China that cost the U.S billions in tax revenue.

Now that is just for some NDA Hollywood shit, not classified government documentation....

Hillary's campaign is fucked...

Her being Sec of State at the time, paired with your second paragraph.....really leaves me scratching my head how anyone can claim this is not serious.
That paragraph is a perfect definition of Top Secret information security.
How the eff she ever had a server at home is beyond explanation to me.

Here is the real funny part, here networking contractor was operating in an apartment in CO. Her server was in the bathroom.

SNL is going to love this. Her campaign is literally in the toilet.

Having a tad over 30 years of IT and network engineering, I've had PLENTY of bosses that had no clue what we actually did.
I still see a ton of people that have no clue when it comes to the technical details of technology.
Directors that require their admin to PRINT all e-mails for storage.
:D:D:D
It's so not uncommon as to be very common.
:P

Knowing your line of work, I would expect quite similar experiences.

I've written scientific software for two nuclear weapons labs and the US Navy, and a flight simulator in assembler. I still have to ask advice on fairly simple system level stuff in Windows, which I find cryptic in the extreme. Last time I wanted to render a hard disk unreadable I drilled holes through it with a power drill.

We put ours thru a machine that munches the drives into little pieces... and the bin of metal is sent off to recycling... and that isafter the secure removal of data and the elimination of data remanence.

You sent the little pieces to be recycled?!?!?! That's just an irresponsible security practice! If I remember correctly, we even shipped our waste off to Iron Mountain...

They could not make a joke any funnier than watching the posters here making excuses for Hillary....

I'm not making an excuse. I think she was very irresponsible and I hope she doesn't become the Dem candidate.

Just commenting on the absurd expectation that everyone, even all smart people, understand what "wiping" a disk means.

Clinton was clearly ill prepared to speak about the issue, which is why she just cracks lame jokes and pretends "wiping a hard drive" is literal....and you people believe it, just like those who believe trump will deport millions of illegals...

So you think he's lying?

Normally I'd say that he's either lying or that he's that dumb...but, I don't know yet. Part of me thinks that his ego makes him think he can really do it. Either way tho, I don't trust him.

As for Clinton...we already know they are liars. But hey, the 90's rocked! Plus we can have the first female president!

I don't think either one is true. This is a guy who has never really been told "no" before, and thus believes that the president really could just order 11 million people rounded up and deported. Cocky arrogance is his on-screen persona, and it's worked for him so far. He's leading in all the GOP polls.

So why did you selectively quote my post and leave out the part about his ego? You do do that shit all the time as if you're not fucking listening...

...are you just contentious like that or something?

Why not just agree and say "ya....the guys a fucking asshole, but people like him!"

OK. "Ya, the guy's an obnoxious reality TV star, but people like him."

I keep hearing however from his opponents that personally, he's the most hospitable, generous man you'll meet outside the political arena...

That may work in his favor as many politicians come in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves...Perhaps Trump is the opposite?

btw, I just stocked up on popcorn....I have no stake in this election. I feel sorry for you Bill...

Seriously tho...it's a sad time in this country. I hope things work out for those raising families and starting the "American Dream."

Perhaps. So was Carter, by all the reports I've heard.

Why? I'm enjoying it as well.

I am starting to think we need to elect a candidate like Trump - once. Maybe seeing how badly someone like Trump could harm the US could be the impetus the US needs to start taking elections more seriously. Maybe after a Trump election (or even a close race) people will start doing more research on candidates, showing up to vote in greater numbers, and making decisions beyond what party the candidate is.

In addition, a president that manages to wreck our economy and turn us into just one of the many first world countries, instead of the world's policeman, might be a good thing in the long run. We might start to think of other countries as entities we need to work with, rather than troublesome obstacles to be dodged or "set to rights."

>Dream."

Well, if four years of pain could make the US a better place for their kids, it might be worth it.

I think that's a very "sad, but true" statement whether it comes by way of fiscal responsibility or election ignorance as you've described.

There may have to be a lot of cuts, but in any event, I think schooling and medical assistance should be the only priority....

All northbound lanes of I-65 in Indiana are closed for at least a month following a partial bridge collapse due to deferred maintenance. The detour adds 30 minutes to travel time for all traffic between Indianapolis, Louisville (and points south and southeast) and Chicago, Milwaukee (and all points north).

This is just one of many many examples of ill-conceived cutbacks in infrastructure that adversely affect the US economy.

Failure to maintain our infrastructure is a result of short sighted taxcutting with long term ramifications.

Dwight D. Eisenhower would rotate in his grave if he knew how his party has so fucked-up the highway system that bears his name.
