But that oft recited fact dramatically understates the remarkable global reach achieved by this country. A new study has found that at various times the British have invaded almost 90 per cent of the countries around the globe. The analysis of the histories of the almost 200 countries in the world found only 22 which have never experienced an invasion by the British. Among this select group of nations are far-off destinations such as Guatemala, Tajikistan and the Marshall Islands, as well some slightly closer to home, such as Luxembourg. Would you count invading Spain or Belgium (Waterloo) to throw Napoleon and the French out among these invasions? Or Germany at the end of WWII?... Isn't that a bit like saying would you count invading Afghanistan to get Al Qaeda? Because the answer would obviously be yes.Do you want to have an ideagasm? The Allies invading Germany in 1945 is, IMHO, quite different from invading a sovereign nation with which you are not already at war just to get a bunch of terrorists. And I suspect the Spanish, Belgians, Dutch, Austrians etc. were quite pleased for the Brits to come along and throw out their real invaders over the centuries.... QuoteIncursions by British pirates, privateers or armed explorers have also been included, provided they were operating with the approval of their government. very liberal definition for invade here. Ok so even if it's 80%, it's still an interesting factoid.

What's the US reason?... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
