174fps 1 #26 August 10, 2006 Quote I want to downsize so that i get more forward speed, not really on landing (i will get into swooping but not right now, and it will be done over time) but more while flying around. I see my friends flying with a nice amount of forward speed, and i'd like to do that too. Do you not think doing 300 jumps on a 170 is excessive though, in so much as the need to safely downsize to a 150? Surely if i can fly the 170 safely and do all the things on the USPA downsize checklist in 50 jumps, that would make me more or less safe to then begin flying a 150? . if your profile is correct you are not even doing 100 jumps per year at that rate I can see why you would think 300 jumps too long between downsizing. People who say they are going to learn to swoop once they have got the smaller canopy, have it backwards, learn to really fly the larger canopy 50 jumps can be done in a few days at a boogie, unless you already have the experience, you cannot learn a new canopy in 50 jumps. Remembering and thinking about that is almost enough to get me laughing
