New Gun Law Proposals

Nothing more than Democrats creating Boogiemen hiding under the bed in an attempt to scare people and gain political power by "doing something".

"Can't let a good crisis go to waste"

Yea, look what they did with 911. Trillions in waste. And we're still hiking the hills of the Afgan seeking holes to "SMOKE'EM OUT." In fact, 911 was the tipping point that will keep us in perpetual war for ever as the world will never be without someone hating us or wanting to kill us. Terrorism=DOD cash cow. Texters in cars kill more people.

If the gun law proposals won't stop mass shootings, then what are they trying to accomplish?

They will not stop until they turn everyone into a convicted felon. That way they can confiscate all of the registered weapons and be free to pillage and plunder as they (The Govt.) see fit. This way when they go kicking in doors and hollering "POLICE" their odds of being contested are 100% better than they are right now. All they're really doing right now is making gun manufacturer's rich and causing people to "Rat Hole" their weapons.

P.S. Govt. "Buy Back" programs are in place even as we speak. Joe Biden (Sidekick # 1) has been entrusted to come up with a "genius" plan to place on POTUS's desk by the end of the month. In which case, we're safe b/c Biden can't find his ass with both hands. (Maybe I'm wrong) Although he was intrumental in keeping the U.S. from going over the "Fiscal Cliff" What a joke, we just have unill March to come up with a "Real Deal" to keep us from going off the Fiscal Cliff again. What do Guns & Money have to do with each other? EVERYTHING!

Here's a report from the Norway Post about the response to the mass murder that took 70+ lives there.
Quote

King Harald opened the 157th session of Parliament Tuesday. The July 22nd Commission's report was one of the main themes in the Speech from the Throne.

The speech outlined the Government's program in the coming year, and stated that:

The Government will follow up the report of the 22 July Commission, and will present a white paper on this work. More and better training exercises will be held. The Government has started work on the establishment of a new emergency management centre for the police in Oslo. The capacity of the Armed Forces to assist the police in emergencies will be enhanced. From January next year, the Armed Forces’ stand-by helicopter service at Rygge, south of Oslo, will be able to provide operational and law enforcement support to the police. The efforts to protect targets that may be particularly vulnerable to attack will be strengthened.

You don't have to outrun the bear.

More than a hundred scientists from virtually every major U.S. university told Biden's task force in a letter that research restrictions pushed by the NRA have stopped the United States from finding solutions to gun violence.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has cut gun safety research by 96 percent since the mid-1990s, according to one estimate. Congress, pushed by the gun lobby, in 1996 put restrictions on CDC funding of gun research. Restrictions on other agencies were added in later years.

So what is the NRA so afraid of that they need to stifle research? Maybe that their position will be found to be full of shit?

I dunno - biased social manipulation based conclusions driven by an agenda targeted at getting more funding not based on data or results but just pandering to those with the dollars? perhaps even peer reviewed?

I guess it would be based on the research? luckily, most higher education institutions are completely objective on social topics.......

So what solutions do you have in mind?

Rescind the prohibition, instituted at the NRA's request, on the CDC and the medical profession doing research on the causes of gun violence.

Why do you oppose scientific research?

No more than kids dying in swimming pools, traffic accidents, etc. I am for ensuring if some has been determined to be a risk to themselves or others that they cannot pass the background check to purchase a firearm.

I am open to ideas that will prevent these shootings. So far I haven't heard any ideas that would. Do you have any?

I don't oppose scientific research. Scientific research is great.

OPENING YOUR MOUTH MIGHT HELP.

The attendant at the front door of the local elementary school said in a meeting in front of school officials just yesterday near me: "Can we put a lock on the front door near where I sit. Right now any person can walk right in. We need a vestibule and a buzzer. I don't feel safe sitting here." One person upon hearing the person say that said: "Now that's a good idea." As if no one had ever thought to lock the door. No one ever mentioned it.

State the concern, develope a plan, and put the plan into action. This is not rocket science. Our schools are under attack and getting rid of everyones guns is the LAST SOLUTION.

What aout in the case of fire in the school house? If, all the exits are locked how would the kids get out? wait for someone to un-lock the doors?

I guess, it would depend on the locking system in the doors.

Chuck

There is not one office building in DC that you could just walk in and get on an elevator. If our schools are under threat of attack why are there not buzzers and attendants at the doors? This is NOT ABOUT GUNS OR VIDEO GAMES ITS ABOUT ACCESS TO GROUPS OF PEOPLE.

They don't seem too concerned. I guess, they just 'expect' our government to take care of them, not unlike so many others in this country. Maybe, you could enlighten them.

Probably because we can spend a thousand dollars on a wrench for the military to appropriate 'secret' funding for various operations the public doesnt know about. Personally I would think that if we can put a man on the fucking moon then there should be people brainstorming about good ideas to keep our schools safe.

Better yet --

Can anyone explain to me if any of the new gun laws being discussed are expected to prevent mass shootings or simply make the liberals feel better over restricting my rights?

Feel good legistlation just like Clinton's Brady Bill

How 'bout this...

Lock the doors on the outside but not the inside, perhaps?

not a bad idea, but again no defence against someone calling in a bomb threat or pulling a fire alarm to get everyone milling around outside in the yard or parking lot, where they can shoot them down or drive a truck into them.
If some old guy can do it then obviously it can't be very extreme. Otherwise he'd already be dead.

Not changing my tune. If no new guns laws were passed, I would be ok with that.

You didn't answer my question; "I am open to ideas that will prevent these shootings. So far I haven't heard any ideas that would. Do you have any?"

Lanza shot the lock off. So it would seem LOCKS might be looked at. HEY ride the train from Phil to NYC. LOOK OUT THE WINDOW. Fences didn't work, so then they put barbared wire on top. And got a pack of german shepards to keep the perps off the yard.

IF the LOCK DIDNT" WORK THEY YOU NEED TO CHANGE TO A DIFFERENT TYPE OF LOCK. FOOL

Guess what, while you are saying you've not heard any good solution, SCHOOLS are putting locks on doors, getting guards, and doing drills inside the school to prevent death.

Bla Bla Bla you've not heard any solutions.

Taking AR's is not the solution. Locking doors, and keeping eyes on entry ways are solutions. When these kids know the schools have limited access the perps will think differently that they won't be able to kill a lot of people before killing themselves.

YES IS DO. Keep an open mind and don't say the status quo is fine and nothing can be done.

Clearly the USA has a serious problem with gun violence that other developed nations don't have. Don't be in denial about this.

Out of all the murders by gun, I just wonder how many of the victims were perps.

The DC snipers were found sleeping in their cars at a rest stop. While sleeping 500 LEO surrounded the car. Helicopters were were over head. When morning came, they arrested Malvo and Mohamad. Those men cost our society 40 million dollars in lawyers fees. Mohamed was put to death and we're paying 100k per year to keep Malvo for life, including meds, food, houseing.

NOw suppose Malvo was tired being molested by Mohamed and shot Mohamed just before they were arrested. That death would be considered death by gun but do you call that :gun violence.

I think of it as: TAX SAVINGS

Think about all the money we save with reduced numbers of perps.
