deltron80 0 #51 February 13, 2013 QuoteQuoteSo you say the women in the Phillipines have "no equality" because they have to work in the home. Yep. QuoteSuggesting that the women are in some way subjugated or oppressed more than men is a little silly in this light. Nope. Ok then, how about men? Do you think men also have no equality and are subjugated & oppressed by having to work outside the home in dangerous & backbreaking labor? How is working physical labor from dawn to dusk every day "power" over those that are receiving the fruits of your labor? It's not power, it's responsibility. Dying for your family is a duty, not a privilege. Traditional gender roles suck for both genders, not just women. Get over the victim complex. Wake the fuck up. Section 5, paragraph 2, begins "Violence against women , both in and out of the home, remained a serious problem...." That's power. QuoteGet over the victim complex. Odd statement. You are (presumably) a man, talking about how it's sooo hard to be a man. I've found it to be pretty easy, to be honest. So who's the victim?Do you want to have an ideagasm? deltron80 0 #53 February 13, 2013 In a society that adheres to traditional gender roles, both genders have their freedom of choice removed and are forced into particular roles in order to survive. In these roles, Men and women experience power and powerlessness in different ways. Your viewpoint is only taking into consideration the ways men experience power and the ways women experience powerlessness. You completely ignore the ways men experience powerlessness and the ways women experience power. Likewise in the US, we've only addressed women's problems so far. So not only are you saying women have it worse, but you're casting doubt on the fact that men suffer in any way...alright To list just a few, men make up the vast majority of suicides, homeless, victims of violent crime, workplace deaths, combat deaths, etc etc. Bit you're right, only women are ever victims of anything. jakee 1,489 #59 February 14, 2013 QuoteYou asked me, I answered. I'm sorry reality terrifies you so much. I'm pretty sure you don't live anywhere near me, so I'm not too bothered. Your level of certainty that the entire world is against you is just a bit unsettling, that's all. Plus, anyone who can argue that gender discrimination in the Phillipines, or almost anywhere in the third world, works in favour of women is probably capable of anything. I bet that in China the girl children killed at birth are luckier than the boy children because they don't have to live under socialism, amirite?Do you want to have an ideagasm? deltron80 0 #62 February 14, 2013 The fact that you claim to be afraid of me just because I'm sticking up for men shows how sexist you are. I didn't say "gender discrimination works in favor of women," I said both men and women are harmed in different ways by traditional gender roles. But that doesn't fit into your neat little "patriarchy" worldview so I'm wasting my time. I hope you like cats because you'll likely be spending your old age with them. jakee 1,489 #64 February 14, 2013 QuoteI didn't say "gender discrimination works in favor of women," No, but you did say this "Women have been freed from their gender roles, men are still stuck in theirs", this "Actually I would argue that domestic violence law has swung so far in women's favor over the past century that it actually is discriminatory towards men" and this "Women attack and kill their partners with almost no repercussions in the law whatsoever" so it wasn't too much of a stretch. QuoteI said both men and women are harmed in different ways by traditional gender roles. Now that's a cop out. You went much further than that in your effort to portray yourself as the beleagured victim.Do you want to have an ideagasm?
