Killing will continue as long as people have to fight for resources that they want. This can be motivated by survival, need, or simply wants.

As for less people killed?

How many died on 09/11? how many innocent people have we killed in Iraq alone?

Numbers seem to suggest the greatest killer is the extremist religion of capitalism, and the vast majority of the people doing the killing are Christians.

In Iraq, it's apples or oranges: a new sadam Hussein (who was likened to stalin way before the Gulf War) or the the tentacles of iran and al queda will keep this sectarian violence in the news. Life under Sadam was no better as so many of his killings were invisible. Maybe barrybarack could show them the way with another "arab spring".
